My son left on the 3rd and I have not received a letter yet. His girlfriend, my sister and my aunt got letters, but not me. Lol! I've had 3 phone calls and he said in the last letter he mailed mine first, but I guess its lost in the mail. *sigh* I'm just ready for March 1st so I can see him March 2nd. Hopefully this will be our week. (fingers crossed!!!)

42 days left till  PIR.  !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does any one have any updates if they will get mail this Sunday?

Margaret - I got a letter from my son.  He said it is Jan 16 and when he started the letter he said he didn't get my letters, then he wrote scratch that I just got them.  He must have read them all and then continued his letter to us because he answered some of my questions. He mentioned that he misses his bed because it is really cold in the ship. He said he sleeps fully clothed in 2 layers. He mentioned the food is good and there is variety but misses his father's cooking.   My husband works from home and is the cook since I work outside the home. He sounds fine and was looking forward to the fun stuff starting this week.  Did you hear anything?  I am just really curious the different things the recruits tell us about their experience.  I am sure they will all write different things.

I wish,  I only recieved my daughters address on the formal letter Tuesday late,  So I addressed what I had written and brought them straight to the Postoffice.  I have not gotten anything else, I am waiting and very anxious to hear or speak with her, time is going by slow for me..  Do you live close the the Great Lakes?  I'm in the Boston area. Im  happy you got to hear from your son and doing well, I will post my daughters info as soon as I get.  Then I thing I will wear it as a neckless.. lol  just kidding..    Thanks for sharing, Margaret

Margaret,

Yes, I live about an hour or so southwest of GL.  It is a very cold night and we are expecting a lot of snow tomorrow.  Fortunately, I am using up a vacation day and don't have to go out in it.  I love Chicago, but I hate the winter.  I could live the rest of my life and never see snow again.  Maybe my son will make a career of this and get stationed in San Diego.  That would be the perfect weather for me.

I hope you get a letter tomorrow!

No letter yet here either but I am thrilled that they are getting their mail and that someone has gotten a letter! Maybe this weekend for us then <3

Thankyou! I hope for a letter too..  where is your son going to A school, does he know?  Do you have any info the lodges or hotels?  Trying to make plans for March 2,    Don't use all your vaca.. save some for the PIR..

Thankyou

Alot of people are making reservations at the Navy Lodge or the Ramada Inn.  There is a PIR meet and greet at the Ramada Inn on Thursday night.  Also, at a bar called the Sundance Saloon, Sarge is having a meet and greet.  I am going to try to go to that one.  I made reservations at the Candlewood Suites in Waukegan, IL.  I wanted a room that my mom could have her own bed separate from my husband and I.  Also, I like have a kitchenette.  I made my reservations for Thurs - Sun since I don't really know when he will leave for A school.  Most likely on Saturday, but it could be Sunday. He is going to nuke school in Charleston, SC.  I am planning to go there in April to visit him.  According to a post, he should have weekend liberty by then.  I have heard such great things about Charleston., I can't wait to go there.  I am using up my 2011 vacation that I lose at the end of the month.

Finally got my first letter today.  it really didn't say too much, but such a relief to know he's ok and thinking of home!  :)

Glad to hear you got a letter!

I can't wait  for my mailman!!!

i hope i see a letter. mine does not like to write. not big on letter writing
