I have great friends and love them all dearly but I mentioned to one of them I can not bring myself to even go in his room .   she said are you kidding me.   I looked at her and said NO I am not.   he is my first born and the first one to leave home and I want everything the way he left it.  She says she would have already painted and gotten it ready to turn into an office or something.   of course her kids have not left home yet either.   They just DO NOT GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I teased my son before he left but knew I would not be able to do anything until he came home on leave.   I may try and get some things in order for him but that is about it.

My son wrote in a letter that what he was freaked out about at night was had I changed his room.  I had to assure him it was exactly the same.  I had mentioned to him that someday in the next 6 years I would be exchanging him bunk bed for a queen, but it was still his room.  I never thought that this would be keeping him up at night.

I think they just want to know that they have a place to still call HOME.   I told my son in my letters that no matter what he will always have a room it may not be a nascar room and it may be painted differently eventually and a different bed but it is still his room.   We moved in when he was 5 to this house and stenciled on his door John's room and that will always stay there.

That's what I have always told my children..there is always a place here for you if you need it.  My daughter is a very independent person...she was ready to leave home at the age of 2...long and funny story.  My son...a completely different story.  He does things when he is ready...kinda like his mom.  Melissa, the tears stung my eyes when I read your comment about stenciling his name on the door of his room.  Hugs all around...

My SR apologized in his first letter for not having organized his room before he left. While I may get rid of the clothes he had earmarked for donation, I will not change the pictures or anything like that. His GF is coming to stay with me and I warned her the room hadn't changed since she was last here.  She said no problem!  My son is the last to leave home....and the silence is deafening.

Agree to everything. Completely different from college to this. The longest my SR had ever been away was a week. Again, always with contact. My friends outside of this have NO clue what I have been going through. One friend of mine does, I've cried on her shoulder. You ladies know.

Husband and I actually went out on a "date" tonight. Went and got pizza. Had a glass of wine and came home and put on my Sponge Bob flannel pants. Snowing tonight and so I'm on the couch. Hope you Ladies have a great night!

That is great I am glad you went out.   Too bad it started snowing.   My husband works in North Dakota and works 28 days straight and then is home for 2 weeks.   Then back again.   Unfortunately the job situation is FL is horrible so we had no choice but we do have date nights when he is home.

My SR has lived away from home but always no more than 5-10 miles and always able to text or call or email. Even when he traveled in Europe playing music in his dad's band, he would find an internet cafe and keep in touch. This is a completely different experience. I can't just pick up the phone and share a funny thing with him...or text him about something.

I love that you have Sponge Bob flannel pants! :-) G'night...

i have tinkerbell flannel pants

YES!!!

Chilly Willy's here! Lots of Eeyore! You ladies are great!

What, no Snoopy?  Although, what's not to love about Eeyore?  I am also a HUGE Winnie-the-Pooh fan.
