For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My son left February 8th for boot camp.
I can't stop thinking about him and worrying about him. I start tearing up at the drop of a hat. I have been reading everything I can about what is happening to him each day. Some of it has comforted me some of it has worried me a little. I just hate not being able to call him or talk to him. Eight weeks seems like such a long time right now..

I don't know if this will help, my son left for bc on 1/16.. I got my first real letter from him 3 weeks and 2 days later... I'm new to all this. But yesterday 2/13 they let him call home.. he had 20 mintues to talk to us. Please hang in there I know how you are feeling.

our son left also on the 8th. I read your comments about what and how he is doing. We feel the same but we keep reminding ourselves that this is the beginning of his career and most important it will be a life changer. Meaning know matter what happens he will be stronger in every way .

I know this is a really good thing. I was very supportive of his decision. Right now it is just the not knowing how he is doing, not being able to communicate with him at all. I really want to be able to start sending him letters. I am very proud of my SR. Now I just want to hear from him that everything is going great. Then maybe I can start to relax.

My daughter left February 1st; I was very torn up. She was so brave not to cry and her recruiter stated when I called him a couple of days later that my daughter was worried about me. I worry and I miss her voice, but, after reading that'no news, is good news" helped a lot. I can't wait to see her at graduation.....8 weeks is a long time.

My son left started bc on Feb 1 and I have received "the box" and the "form letter" but that's it so far. I'm a retired disabled navy gal myself and I can promise you, it doesn't make it any easier. LOL I have still been feeling the same way all you other moms are feeling. I go from being okay one minute to sad the next. Patrick is my youngest, and maybe that's why it's so hard. I guess I'm suffering from empty nest syndrome. My middle son went into the Air Force and I didn't have a hard time at all when he went to basic training. I think because I still had a kid at home. Now the house is empty, and it's just not the same. I constantly am checking my cell phone to be sure it 's charged and the volume turned all the way up so I don't miss the call when it comes. I write every day and rush to the mail box to see if there is any letter. So far nothing! I can tell you from my own personal experience at bootcamp, that I use to LOVE getting the letters from home when I was there. It gave me the strength to get thru another day of training. This website is wonderful and I'm sure my mother would have loved to have had it back when I was in the service back in 1980.

It is very hard for mommas. I think it is harder on us than them. But just know time will go by fast. Write him everyday even if you have to talk about the weather. I my son said he loved getting my letters and keeping him update on what was going on here. I wrote everyday so that he would get something everyday. There is a about a 4-5 day delay for him getting your letters. I dont know how many times I picked up my phone to call him when my SA was in BC. We talked everyday several times a day before he left he still lived at home. But while he was at work so forth we still talked during the day.
I promise that it will go ny fast,

Thanks, it is really hard. My SR and I talked every day to, in the mornings it was just me and him. My younger ones were in school and my husband at work. I really miss our time together. We would talk about everything. My husband does not seem to be struggling with this as much as I am. I am sure you are right. My son is probably not struggling with it as much as I am either. Thank you for your words of encouragement. Everyone on here has been a real life saver.

Hi All - I am so excited - we received the letter today!!! He is in Ship 09 Div 112 and his PIR date is 4/6. Anyone else in the same group or PIR date? trandles-you should get your letter soon since they left the same day!!! I need to prepare my letters to mail so more later!! Hugs to all!!!

When did he go in for BC?? I was told his PIR date was 4/6, but I still have not recd a letter yet, but got the BOX yetsredayy:(( Nothing but dirty clothes... LOL I think I should b getting the Form soon???

I RECEIVED MINE YESTERDAY AS WELL. MY SON IS THE SAME SHIP AND DIV AS YOURS. HIS PIR DATE IS APRIL 6 AS WELL. ALREADY MADE RESERVATIONS AT THE RAMADA. WAS INFORMED THAT WE WILL BE ABLE TO SEE HIM SATURDAY AS WELL. THEY ARE HAVING THE MEET AND GREAT THERE AS WELL. I AM SO EXCITED !!!!
