CONGRATS Moe!!!!!! I can't wait for graduation for you!! Bringing tears to my eyes thinking about it.... I am up for a get together with any and all Georgia Navy Moms! Just let me know when and where. When my son was deployed to Afghan (3/11-10/11) I got together with the Marine Moms ( my son is a Corpsman) and let me tell you, they helped me survive the deployment....
Hi!
My name is Sharon and I live in Acworth. We celebrated my son's PIR on January 20. He is now at Fort Sam Houston in HM school.
Hi Penny,
Just wondering where TJ and Alex went to high school? Our son graduated from the International Bacculaeurate Program at Douglas County High. He PIR'd Oct. 21, 2011 and has been based at Corry Field, Pensacola since that time. He is in IT A-School there. Wondering if he might know your son or his best friend?
Penny, this is such a small world. Yes, our son is Jon Stevens whose girlfriend is Karina Canup. Karina is now a freshman at GA Tech; she will be majoring in micro biology engineering. They both graduated at Douglas Co High as International Bacculaureate grads. Jon is in Pensacola at this time. His dad and I now live in Atlanta (Brookhaven). Jon grew up off of Stewarts Mill Rd. His dad asked me to ask you if you are any kin to JD Hughes who taught/coached somewhere there in Douglasville? Please keep in touch. Wondering what your son and friend are seeking as their ratings? (Airman, cryptology, mechanic, electrical, etc., etc.) Can't remember for sure what division 900 represented, (band maybe??).
If/when the moms schedule another luncheon I would encourage you (and hubby is he wishes) to attend. The last one was in Oct. at Golden Corral in Douglasville; it was nice to be able to meet several other parents and learn of their sailors and their stories.
Good luck on staying the course while he is in GL; those seemed like some of the longest days of my life. Write, write, write everyday...just don't expect much or often a reply. They are so busy and sometimes the CO/instructors hold up the mail. Best wishes for a great week.
By the way our Jon is also called Chip by family members and very close long time friends. Most of the kids at school always called him Jon. I came into his life when he was in 6th grade. Occasionally, someone would refer to someone called Jon and I didn't have a clue that he was one in the same. LOL
Hi Ya'll, I am from Newnan and my son will PIR on 03/02/2012. I would love to maybe host a meet and greet at my house. Maybe in April when the weather is really nice. What do ya'll think about that?
Hi everyone. I live in Conyers, Georgia. My daughter left March 12th and her PIR is May 4, 2012.
Thank You. Same to you.
