Anyone else have a loved one on Ship 9, Div. 087?  My son is going to Nuke School in Charleston following PIR.  Like so many of you, I am counting down the days until March 16!!  Hope to see you there:)

Hi Nan,  I have been so consumed with Boot Camp that I have learned little about A school.  That's my next project There is so much to know here.  I wonder how many are going to Charleston from this group of graduates.  We are in Florida (8-9 hours away) from Charleston.  Where are you?

I know I keep forgetting to ask him how many Nukes are with him...yes next I will be consumed with A school, my husband keeps asking how I can stay on this computer for so long... my answer "I'm reading about Navy Boot camp.

We live in CT so Charleston will be about 15 hours from us.

I wonder how early they will leave for Charleston after PIR.  I don't think we're getting any sleep Friday night if we plan to meet them at the airport. I was going to ask my son how much they can take with them to Charles (so I know what I can bring him) but he probably knows less than we do since he's not on N4Ms LOL.  My son was amazed that I knew more than he did before he left last month.  My husband and daughter think I've lost my mind because everything I do revolves around this website and our trip to Chicago!!  It's ok.  I'm still way smarter than they are LOL

I guess we will be sharing more than one graduation together!

I ordered my ribbons today for PIR--SO EXCITED:)  We're another day closer to seeing our new sailors!!  WOO HOO!!

I got two letters today--an unexpected surprise....  The letter was dated 2/14/12 and 2/15/12.  He said Friday was 4:1.  He said this week would be exciting.  They are learning alot about liberty after PIR and A School and privileges their first weeks of school.  It was so much more upbeat than the last letter.  I could hear it in his voice--they are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.  They have settled in and doing their jobs and counting down the days, just like us.

I was disappointed to read that they don't think they will get another call until next Friday (March 2) UGH!! Will they have completed Battlestations by then?!  Is that our "I'm a Sailor" call?!  It was alot to take in. I hope you all get letters this week.  I know we were praying for calls last week and this week, but be strong ladies...our boys are getting stronger by the day and they are as excited as we are about PIR.  My son has never had so much to say...I am so going to miss these letters!!

i got a letter ysterday to he said they are doing so good that they moved them to an E2 pay grade im so proud of our sailors.

Hey 087 Moms, glad you all got letters. I haven't gotten one this week. But I am hoping it got pushed back cause of Prez day on Monday. Candy the whole div 087 got up graded to E-2?

Robin or Candy did your SRs say anything about BS21? I thought the next call would be around the 2nd week in March for the I AM A SAILOR call. Did they say anything about more flags for the div? I know I know I ask a lot of questions. That is what TN is always saying!! lol lol

I am so happy for those who got letters!  Hip hip hooray!!!!!  I am still waiting for a letter this week.  I did get a short one on Sat. that said they can write on Tues. and Thurs. as well.  Could it be Pres. day that is causing the hold up?  Maybe.

Anyway-  I hope you are all smiling!  Here's wishing you some more mail!

He didn't mention BS21 but said last Friday was 4:1 which would put them at the end of their 5th week around March 2.  I think our Sailor call will come around that time.  We're not alone...they are getting excited too!!  No mention of flags but he didn't talk about the division still coming together either.  I'm taking that as good news.

I received a letter this week...he says TN is hands down one of the nicest guys he's ever met. And apparently you all have been mentioning my name, because my son wants to know exactly what I've been up to on the n4m site. I guess we've become a topic of conversation lol.

I DO know about the flag award. There are 4 SRs who have been nominated and recommended, which will bring the Admiral's letter of recognition for the "top, top, top" recruits. My son says, "This award is HUGE. Our CNA (Command Officer of the Navy, Admiral Greenerut) writes us a letter in regards to our performance and this follows us for the rest of our lives, both in the military and civilian world." I do know the last names of those that have been nominated, but if you want to know,  I guess the best way to do this is to send me a private message telling me your last name, and I will verify if that is one of them, because we're not supposed to put last names on here.

My son also says he's working for perfect scores in Academics, which will earn him a flag award ( a medal), and he's also working for the Athletic and Marksman flag award. He says if he gets all of them, he "gets his name painted on the JFK, Ship 09 Hall of Fame, which sounds like a rumor to me". lol I'm just glad he's super motivated. Hallelujah, I think we finally found something the boy loves!

wow he sure told u alot cant wait to get more info from my son will let ya know when i get more letter hoping for one today i hope we do get a call in a couple of weeks cant wait if ya hear anyhting or get more info from your SR just keep posting it so i can keep asking my son about them hope u all have a great day!

I am guessing it is not my son because he didn't say anything about that.  BUT....I will message you just in case :)  Wow, you got a lot of information.
