Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

It's a start Micki, but I'm convinced that the US Navy and it's sailors make a concerted effort not to be understood. In fact, having served, I'm convinced that Navy lingo is a product of being bored at sea.
The announcements regularly coming over the ship PA System ( known as the 1MC) adequately demonstrate that NAVY communication is not necessarily meant to be understood. Here's just some of the weird stuff you get to hear.
"Reveille, Reveille. Heave out and trice up. Now Reveille" - I get the reveille bit, but the other part sounds like a guaranteed trip to the chiropractor.
"Late Sleepers" - They said it every morning in a effort to remind you that there are people who do and that you're not one of them.
"There are men working aloft. Do not rotate or radiate any electronic equipment while men are working aloft" - I occasionally had to work aloft and I never liked that one. Some of my shipmates were bright and others a little less so. I would have preferred that they said, "Keep the damn radars and transmitters off. ET2 Fatso is working on them"
"Dinner for the crew" - The second meal of the day. That caused this Californian a minor problem as I had NO IDEA what they meant by "Supper for the crew". Skip a few of those and you will be out of you rack before anyone suggests you heave or trice.
"Ding Ding, (ship's name) Arriving, Ding" - The bitch is that you never knew you left.
"Sweepers, sweepers man you brooms, give...." - As a graduate of some of the finest Navy A and C schools, I was prepared to work on millions of dollars worth of equipment. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that I had in enlisted into an army of sweepers that attacked every lower deck, ladder and passage way on a daily basis.
"Now lay before the mast all eight o'clock reports" - Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? Is it flipping eight o'clock or twenty hundred? And just who the hell is up at the mast that rates a lay before? They didn't teach THAT at bootcamp!
"Set condition Zebra throughout the ship" - It does look a nit like a zoo when you're doing that
"Tattoo" - Le Plane? I looked and never saw one, so I simply went to sleep.
