Hello ladies!!
My name is Tiffany and i live in Texas. My sailor Anthony and I have been together for almost four years now and he just graduated basic training Feb.10th. He is now in meridian ms doing his a school for ls. This whole experience has been one of the hardest things i have EVER been through. Its really lonely and I miss him so much!! I guess i'm trying to find people who know what i'm going through...none of my friends or family really understand. ANY advice at all is greatly appreciated!!!
Thank you =D

You can expect people that don't have a significant other in the military to judge, and make comments, because they don't understand. It's always best to have people to talk to who do undestand. Don't be discouraged, it's difficult but not impossible. Here you have a whole network of people to go through the same things with you =) I know it's difficult, but it gets easier and it gets better i swear =) I'm always here to talk to! Hope everything gets better soon! Keep the positive attitude, it will carry you through.
Hello Tiffany,
My name is Heather and i live in Florida. How does Anthony like IS? IS as in Intelligence Specialist?? My husband Joey is going in for IS but hasnt left for boot camp yet and just wondering how he's going to like it...
Hey Heather!
Anthony is actually going to school for LS (sorry i might have left that L lower cased lol) Boot camp is gonna be tough but the fact that you guys are married will make everything easier!
Wow 7 years, that's awesome! =) I am excited, my A school is in Pensacola too and I heard it's very nice there! Staying busy is great advice but it's not going to make everything better, I understand that. The unknown is definately scary for anyone, especially with the military element that is completely new and different for both of you. That makes it more difficult that the experience is new for both of you. You have taken a great first step by being a part of this website, because it will give you more information and better your understanding about a lot of it, because there are so many people who have been where you are now including me. =) If you are even thinking about getting married, I would do it soon after he gets to A school before he gets his orders so you can be placed on his orders and go with him! You can always wait and do physical therapy school when you guys get placed at his first duty station, it would give you something to do and focus on! I would hold off on applying to physical therapy school and figuring out what plan would work best for you and your sailor. Continue to stay busy and focused. Try getting yourself on a schedule, I found that helped me when my sailor was in basic. Spend time with your familly and friends, but also have a network of people you can talk to that understand what you're going through, that will help you immensely! You're going to have your good days and bad days, that's normal. I also reccomend keeping a journal that helped me a lot. Let out your feelings and don't be afraid to cry when you need to. Hope this helps! Feel free to talk to me and get advice and support =) I was there once!
7 years?!?! Girl he is going to marry you. Maybe you should do it at graduation...
As for college, that's a tough one. If you guys know your getting married for sure i would just wait till he gets his orders..but that's just me. Its a hard decision because getting into one of those schools is tough! Where in Texas are you?? I live in DFW
Well I'm hoping my dream comes true and I get to be married to my best friend forever! :) We have talked about marriage a lot, just finding the right time has been tough cause neither of us know anything about the military and how it all works. I have been getting a lot of advice from so many people on here so that has helped and I have been telling him what I've learned in my letters to him so hopefully we can figure something out. He has only been in boot camp for 2 weeks and I haven't even gotten his first form letter yet so it will be a while before I hear from him! But either way, I'm just going with the flow! :) As far as school, it is a hard situation cause PT school is hard to get into and I have a better chance getting in here in Texas. I will just let him know the information I have found out and then see what he thinks and go from there! No matter where he is we will make it work! And I am actually pretty much in DFW too!!! I live in Weatherford but work in Ft Worth!! So we are really close!!!
If you are not married before his orders are issued, then he will be "unaccompanied", meaning they won't pay for your move. Within the US, you can move anywhere you like, of course. On your own dime. It is only of he gets overseas orders that things fall through, because you are then dealing with a foreign country's laws.
You should be married a minimum of four weeks before he is set to graduate, and even that is pushing the envelope. There's at least one gal here who married over Christmas, he was set to grad in March, and he already had orders. ASAP, is if works for you. If not, you go with the flow.
Anti M: It is totally safe to say your scaring me!! lol I don't know when my sailor is graduating and if we get married it will be AFTER a school. So if he gets his orders and they say Japan...even if we get married after I wont be able to go with him??
