OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I am also in WF. My son left last June for boot camp and is now stationed in Yokosuka Japan. I would be happy to answer any questions for you. For now let me say that the 8 weeks of boot camp will go by faster than expected but not nearly fast enough! Plan on going to graduation if there is any way possible - it is so worth it! We drove and it was not bad at all. Make sure that if you plan to go that you read the info on line and get there early!

I would love to meet up sometime. I know it's hard with our busy lifestyle. I have another son at home who plays soccer and races dirt bikes. He keeps us hopping. We plan on going to the graduation which is scheduled for March 16. I would like to drive up, but we are worried about the roads with it still being winter up there, so we are probably going to try to fly. We have our hotel reserved, and plan on going to Sarge's meet and greet. Did anyone go to that? I heard it is very informative.

I am actually from Granbury, about 2 1/2 hours south, but my daughter will be going to Midwestern State in the fall.
Sarge's meet and greet was fun, mostly snack type foods but you could easily make a meal of it.If you stay at the Ramada be sure to take the shuttle to PIR. It was so much easier, they run more than one so you have plenty of time after the ceremony. I had to wait for my son to go get his stuff and we also shopped in the NEX for souveniers (sp?) and still caught the shuttle back. My son's hardest part was NOT being able to drive the Dodge Charger they gave me at the rental place!It's hard to believe it has been almost a year (Feb.23rd) since he was heading to boot camp! He left on his 21st birthday ! -

Thank you for your input. I graduated from MSU myself. My biased opinion is that it is a very good school. We have decided to drive up, and are staying at the LaQuinta in Gurnee. Too many of us to afford the high prices of flights over spring break. We can drive and sightsee and eat for less than 3 of us flying, and there are 5 of us going. One under 12. I can't wait 14 1/2 days.

I am so excited for you! I cried the first time I saw him march in with his battalion. He was so disciplined and all the kids looked amazing. I cried throughout the entire ceremony, so I am glad I have the DVD so I can go back and watch it to see what I missed.
We took all the kids (we have 4) to the Jelly Belly factory. The kids had a blast and we bought the icky jelly beans that look exactly like the real ones, but taste horrible... barf, boogers, etc. The kids mixed them all up and had a contest to see who could avoid the gross ones. That is my favorite memory of the trip...sitting in the hotel watching my 4 kids get sick on Jelly Bellys.
The time will fly once you are there, so take lots of pictures (off base) and enjoy every second. Also, he will be hyper aware of the time constantly. Don't take it personally; if they are late they can ALL lose their priviledges for the remainder of the time you are there. Have a great time, and I am excited to meet you and hear about your trip.
