So glad some of you got calls! Hoping for more!

I'm a Sailor calls won't start happening usually until Week 7 in Training.

14 days from right now we will be sitting in that cold drill hall anxiously awaiting for the door to roll up and see our SR's march through it.  So glad to have gotten letters and a phone call yesterday.  Here's hoping the days start flying by.

Also received a call (her boyfriend did). It was only 4 min. long. She implied that she will not be able to spend the night with him but will have to be back at curfew. He was really bummed about this. She also says her A school date is 3/25 but she will not be able to come home either. She also said her date could change. Why cant we get definate information so we can plan accordingly?

The general rule is that there is no overnight liberty from RTC allowed.

Where is she going to "A" school? Great Lakes or somewhere else?

Newly Graduated Sailors do not get to go home (on leave) in between BC and "A" school. They also do not get to use their leave days while in "A" school. Leave is different from liberty. They will earn more Liberty priviledges by Phasing up at their respective "A" schools. Each schools policies are different. There are three Phases.

Some exceptions for leave are : Emergency situations (paperwork "chit" is always filled out) and when RTC so deems it.

At Christmas this last year leave was granted for one of the PIR groups as they were on Holiday stand down...bases are not having new classes etc. It was optional if they went home or onto their "A" school...but they could not stay at RTC.

Yes...the motto for the military is..."Hurry up...and wait".

I can understand, relate to hurry up and wait. Thank you FireTeamLeaderWife.

I have other questions are you the "To go to person"?

Do you know why they do not get to come home between BC and A school?

My SR is in a similar situation.  Her A school has to "class up" before it can start.  The good news is, her phase up time starts when she arrives at A school, not when school starts.

From what I understand, a lot of office work. lol

Maybe they will get to come home in between and as usual we and our recruits will be the last to know. :)

May I please as where your daughter is going to A school at?

My daughter is going to Dam Neck, VA.
