While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Anyone else have a loved one on Ship 9, Div. 087? My son is going to Nuke School in Charleston following PIR. Like so many of you, I am counting down the days until March 16!! Hope to see you there:)

I am with you Paula!!! Jeana TN was worried about his PT tests too. He is 5' 9" and 128 lbs. It was the same story you told about your SR! He as not filled out much in upper body. OR his WHOLE body for that matter. It just takes a little extra for them. He'll get it. He has the whole 087 on his side but most of all he has the 087 PRAYING MOMMAS too!!! We are a strong force! Prayers going up for our SR (Jeana's Son). Hang in there Jeana.

Hey y'all! I got another letter from Tim. I had asked him if he was given any IT. He reported back- "Yes, it has been handed out in the past 2 weeks. Hit and miss type stuff. Our RDCs believe in 'retraining' more than punishment." Those RDCs want them to succeed and do a lot to see that happen. I would think that they all will pass this PFA with all that "extra" training. All that IT for the group will help.
Also, Paula is right. Those sailors work as a team. They will help out, that is how they have been trained- No man left behind. My prayers are with all your SRs. They will succeed.
Jeanna - think positively! He was so close on the numbers at the beginning. Now he is stronger and knows what to expect. He will do it!!!!!!

wow sounds like we need a lot of prayers for some of our 087 div well lets stick together n do it for them i feel bad 4 the mom that didnt get to see her SR graduate n i think she should of got a call 2 let her know im here 4 all of our SRs n moms so lets keep our heads held high and be there for each other n our kids or loved ones but im still on cloud nine for my SR wish all of you luck n happiness its almost over!

I am having so much trouble posting my response so I am going to do it in parts...sorrry
She did not actually say it was a letter.Here is what she posted:
He said a possibility and that was on Tuesday.
That close to PIR...I am betting it was a call.
When a recruit has not passed there swim or run...before BS21...they go right into the FIT division. They are granted a call to let whoever they want to know that their status has changed. RTC doesn't make them call nor tell them who to call. They allow one.
The last PFA is taken at the end of week 6...just before BS 21 can start. So they would move into FIT then. The call may not come the exact day they are moved. Div can start going through BS a week before PIR. This ladies son was in DIV 80...they would be one of the last div going through. In fact...I'm a Sailor calls were being done on Thursday, yesterday. Which means they went through Wed and called Thurs or Tues and some did not call until Thurs.

RTC has parameters for this when it happens. Once a recruit calls home and says their status has changed...they will not call again until their status changes again...meaning that they are graduating.
I know this is stressful...but they have tried to make guidelines in a stressful situation. It is the best that they can do. While I know I would be just as devastated...at some point I have to see that their is nothing no one could do.

That being said...what do we advise you to do if this happens?
Don't change your plans...your recruit could pass, go through BS and PIR. Either way there would be a cancellation fee...so wait.
We direct you to the FIT group on here so moms that have been and are going through the process can support you through this stressful time.
I have had parents not get another call...know that their recruit probably did not pass because of the parameters set by RTC and still go to PIR. On ocassion have called PAO and been granted a couple of hours to visit. Ibelieve they can still attend PIR. I had one family still go and take another Sailor out for liberty as that is what they had arranged as he would not have anyone there. So kind. It's not mentioned but it can happen. I don't know if they still do this...but you better believe I would be calling to find out...all they can say is "no"...but they may say "yes".
Some choose to cancel their plans. When a recruit can't pass their requirement before PIR...they will keep trying (there is a set number of times...don't know how many) and if they do they will do BS and then go on to their "A" school. No PIR.

Also., I am in know way trying to belittle this poor ladies devastation...just trying to explain that RTC does try to provide for every situation as best they can. She seems so sweet...even congratulated her sons Div and said PIR was very nice. So sad...very sorry for her and her son...and most of all I pray that he floats and progresses onward.
