Just got my letter from our SR made us so happy :)!  Heading to Great Lakes for the PIR in April and can't wait to see him.

ps.  I'm almost thankful that we didn't get letters this week.  Sounds like many of the SRs that did write home were still in serious adjustment phase and not happy or downright miserable.  I think back to my first two weeks of basic training in the Army, I was terrified, wondered what the HELL I got myself into and never thought from one day to the next that I would make it through the day... but by the end of the second week, something turned around.  Maybe we are lucky for not hearing from them yet, after all...

Hmmmm....maybe you are right.  His short note on the form letter was bad enough.

So excited.  I just ordered the ribbons for us to wear for PIR to honor our Sailor.  Can't wait til they come.  Just 5 more Fridays!!!

Teachermom, did I miss something? The ribbons you are talking about that you ordered? I saw some of the other groups talking about getting all the same color to support the ship and division there boys/girls are in. Has that been discussed and has a color been chosen? Please let me know so I can
be sure my family has ours. Thank you.
My sons name is Justin and he will be attending A school for the Nuke program in charlotte. Everyone else?
The ribbons are just a simple black ribbon with either silver or gold letters. The scarves are what people get in matching colors. I figured that was more of a winter thing and we are mid April. Plus my husband and son will wear these very elegant looking ribbons but would never wear the scarves.

Now that I think about it maybe she does the ribbons in a color because she just asked for silver or gold letters. I just remember the sample pictures were either black or dark navy.
Ok so where did you order from, is there w web site and what color did you order?

uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com

Send her an email and ask about PIR ribbons.  She also has a facebook page and she's on N4M, but I can't remember her username.  I ordered the silver lettering with his last name.  One side has a name and the other has their division.  I chose to go last name but some do first name.  She does either gold or silver letters and said often people choose based on the jewelry they will wear.  She is also putting something on them to honor my father and husband who served in the USAF.  Finally, she is also putting a music note because of their division.  I ordered 3 ribbons and it was $25.50, shipping included.  They are very elegant looking, even my 16 year old will be willing to wear one.

I'm just not a scarf person and didn't want to "stand out" but rather to be very tasteful but honoring since he will be in his dress uniform when we take pictures with him.

Ordering them helped me feel like I was doing something to pass the time.

DID YOU NOTICE THE COUNTER IS ALMOST DOWN TO 39 DAYS????

First off, yes I noticed the counter 39 days!!!!!!!!! That's the first thing I check when I roll over in the am.. :).
Thank you very much for all the info will be ordering mine in a few..... I am not a scarf person either, that's why I saw you say ribbons I had to ask. I will steal your Idea of last name, but will order gold lettering because that's the color jewelry we wear, plus my family will wear.. Thanks so much..

This would be LaLa Ribbon Queen on here!

Love the ribbon idea. Found her Facebook page, and it says the black is for spec. Ops.. So I think I'll do the navy ribbon with silver. Now just to decide what they'll say. The samples help a lot. But I love the idea of the musical note.

Yes  musical note will be on ours also, great Idea being performing division (musical). Yes I'm for the navy color ribbon.

Some moms are talking about ordering T-shirts.  What are they talking about and when do you wear them?  I assumed that dress clothes would be more appropriate for the graduation ceremony.  Could someone please give me some insight about this.  Thanks.
