Our sailors will moving on to the 2nd phase of "Nuke" School. Indoc starts on Feb.9th and classes on the 13th. Since we will all be in the "same boat" together, I thought it will be nice to share our experiences.  Lets continue to support our sailors and each other!

I'm sorry to ask this.  Did anyone happen to go to the A-school grad on 12/16?  If so, could you share the pictures?  Thank you in advance.  I couldn't make it and was wondering if my son could be in the background......

sorry!  my son graduated in january.   i hope you find someone who got a picture or two of your son!!

Good Morning!  Gosh, I can't believe the last time I chimed in on Nuke Moms was in December!!  I feel like I am completely out of the loop.

My son started PS on Feb. 13th.  Question though - Trying to figure out how the classes are divided up.  His class is E-Class 1202-1.  He's an EM.  I saw that ET's are Sections 1-4, 5-11 are MM's.....how does that translate?  Anyone?

On another note, B did quite well on the 2 tests he's taken so far - one was Math and the other was Physics.  He was very pleased with his grades.  I just hope and pray he can keep it up.

I need to keep up with all of you here.  I think I'll get more news this way than trying to squeak it out of my son.  I'm sure you other moms would agree.  I plan to be back here on a regular basis and not stay away so long.  This is a busy year for me - my daughter is graduating high school this May and between finding a college, filling out FAFSA, shopping for Prom dresses, planning a grad party.......Yikes!  It's been busy!  Glad to be back!

My son is an MM and yes different sections also, 1-11. Welcome back Mama C. Mine is in 1202-9, has a math test tomorrow, good luck to all your sailors in there upcoming tests!

passed his Math test, not with the score he wanted, but passed none the less! One more math and 2 physics test to get through. Seems to be enjoying Heat Transfer alot, says it pretty easy....hopefully all continues to go well for him and all your sailors!

hello all!!

my son had a math test today.  wont know how he did tell after study hours tonight.  hope he did good.  i hope all of them did good!!!

Yea  my  sailor passed his  math  test too.  Really  needed a good  score  for  his  ego  as  last  week  didn't go  so  well. I  guess  advancement  exams  are  in the  next  week.  Keeping  my  fingers  crossed.

So son called took E5 test yesterday...did "ok" doesnt really mean anything so not sweating it. Wont find out grade till May! Other than that things seem to be going fine...showed up to class today and told his Instructer that he had his "spell book and Wand with him cause they are teaching Magic! HAHA...Instructer laughed!

Class put on quiet time...(time out) for childish crap.......said his class leader likes to play games...he is 19 yrs old....told son, well he is 19 and may not have had the life and educational experiences that you have had before joining.......he confronted him in front of the whole class about to get respect you have to earn respect!  The whole class chimed in and backed son up on his views. Said he will give this kid a week to change his thoughts on respect....then game on! Not Fair that the whole class gets punished due to ones imaturatity, but he will give him a chance to get things right as he said he would do better as a class Leader. So we will see how this plays out! told son that he has to understand that some of these kids came straight form high school and mommas house with absolutely no life experiences and are learning as they go....doesnt matter how good ther grades are, depends on the person they are and want to be........so give a chance.......if your class keeps getting shafted due to imaturity, then speak you peace!

hello all!!

betsy--glad your son did good on his test.  i hear they are to have another this monday.

amanda---hope things work out for your sons class.   it was nice that his classmates backed him up!!

All E4's took the E5 test this week. My son says they won't find out the results for 2 months. He also said that he isn't going to concern himself with even trying to study for that test while he is studying to be a Nuke. I think it is rare that someone who hasn't been out to sea yet even scores high enough to get the promotion. Wouldn't it be spectacular if one of them did?

The test on Monday is on heat transfer, apparently pretty much just a review from A school so far. Have a great weekend everyone and don't forget to move your clocks forward!

So Colins roomate is getting Masted! He is in the class ahead of son, got a DUI and spent the week-end in county jail! Not sure as of yet wether he will be just punished and put on restrictions or get kicked out of the program. This class has recieved 3 DUI's within 2 weeks....sad!

Cant stress enough....DONT DRINK AND DRIVE! Its not worth it!

Or better yet, don't drink.  This program is so important to our kid's futures, why jeopardize it for a few beers and laughs.  There is plenty of time for that later.  So many of the mastings since A-school have been alcohol related.  I hate to see these fine young people screw up their futures over something that can be avoided.  Here's hoping he doesn't get kicked out.
