For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Sounds pretty ;normal to me. Pretty much been there did that. My advice -- Keep busy, finish projects that you started and never finished. surround yourself with positive friends and relatives. My friends and co-workers were a big help. Ik new if I needed to talk to someone they were just a phone call away. Read a series of books, I sometimes crocheted, but if I found myself thinking too much I would call a friend, If you have a basement, now is a time to clean it. Catch up on putting photos in photobooks, Start a list "projects"of all the things you never had time for and pretty sure your son will safely be home before you get through your list. This might sound crazy but I had a copy of my sons' dog tags and wore them everyday. Actually I never took them off. It made me feel close to him. Crazy but worked for me.

Wow. I feel your pain. I have a son who just deployed to Afghanistan 3 weeks ago to a very volatile area with only a handful of Marines. He is a Navy Corpsman and mostly with the Afghan Army. I have my good days and my bad days. I really have to concentrate on staying positive. My friends and family have no idea what I am feeling. It is so different as a mom. I guess staying busy and getting involved helps. Right now we just moved and I am still settling in. I haven't been able to look for work yet. I plan on volunteering with the USO. I would love to stay in touch with you as I think it really does help to talk to others who have or are going through the same situation. I will keep your son in my thoughts and prayers. This is the 2d deployment for him and my husband was in Iraq at the peak of the war. You can talk to me whenever you like.

Hi Diane, Ryan was working with the Army Rangers in Spin. He is a dog handler and is now back in the states, Thank God! He is now stationed in Groton CT and seems to love it. If there is anything I can do or any information I can supply you with or just support! We Skyped all the time and it really helped us both. Take Care, Diane

Hey Gal! Good hearing from you! Follow you on FB and love your postings!! Ry is no longer with Sony. He could not take him to Groton. Had to turn him over to another handler in Corpus. I thought that was sad. Anyway he has been very busy in Groton.helping to train other handlers and is waiting for a Jack Russell Terrier believe it or not to search for bombs on the Subs. How are you and your family?

We're good! Matt is out of the Navy, finished burning the last of his leave on March 5th, but has been full time at University of Texas San Antonio since January (after doing 3 semesters evenings his last year at Camp Bullis). He's bought a new home, and has a wonderful young woman in his life..and an obnoxious Boston Terror dog.
Now we start the wait for my granddaughter's boyfriend, in ROTC to hit basic training for the Army. and for Matt's girlfriend's brother who is enlisting in the Army. ARMY???

Okay I will start speaking up! Sounds like things are going smooth for your family. Sort of have not been on this site enough. I need to keep myself involved. I got all the info for Diane from Ryan. Talked to him today. He has been so busy. He is the Kennel supervisor and doing really well.
