No one ever wants to be second. Not unless it means they will be getting showered with love by Molly moms for the second time!
The USS Cape St. George is our FIRST ever SECOND time adoption! You ladies did such a great job the first time that they are back for more. Our first time supporting the Cape was a Christmas adoption in 2010. Over 50% of the crew is new since then, so even though the ship is being adopted a second time, many of the sailors will be first-time recipients of our love.
The Cape St. George is a guided missile cruiser based out of San Diego and is deployed as part of the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group to the U.S. 5th Fleet as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. They left on their current deployment on December 7 and have already heard that they will be extended. Their theme is "Dragon Slayers." Their moto is "Always Victorious."
I did some research and found out that April is “Humor Month,” so the theme for this adoption is “humor.” When I asked the POC about this theme, he said the crew will certainly be ready for some humor by the time our boxes start arriving. So let’s try to bring smiles to their faces and laughter to their day! Here are few ideas to get us started:
Their specific requests are:
We are also going to have some extra support and love from the Makin Island moms this month. As a way to “pay it forward” for our adoption of their loved ones last month, they are going to hold a special packing party for the Cape St. George! Thanks, Makin moms, you rock!!!

Have some more microwavable meals. So I will be sending 3 boxes.
I am going to send some phone cards and was wanting to send them directly to the chaplain. I didn't see a different address so I am assuming to send them to the POC and he can get them to the Chaplain? I didn't see any sense in double postage. The PO gets enough of my money.
I'll also be sending my pillowcases but they will go to my sailor since they are specifically for his squadron.
I didn't get a different address for the chaplain, so I will tell both of them that the phone cards are coming. I don't know if anyone else is sending any at this point.
Thanks, Kim!
Why not put them in a separate envelope inside the box and write on the outside "Please give this envelope to the Chaplain. Thanks."
Sorry ladies I have been very busy at work and have been unable to check up on what is going on. I will be able to send out on Sat. I will go shopping tomarrow morning and continue this weekend. If I don't make Sat. Shipping I will have it out no later than Monday. I know that's late, but it has been crazy around here. Sorry Let me know if this is ok.
Thanks
I'd love to help...but I think even if I started driving now, I'd be too late. Bless you, Pam!
Sending out - 8 containers of Flarp, 2 suction cup dart guns, 1 dozen crazy straws, 2 whoopee cushions, and an assortment of drop 'n pop balls, whacky wall walkers, wacky glasses, fake ugly teeth, rubber band airplanes, laffy taffy, pixie sticks and oh yes...a rubber shark.
Ha, ha, Laura! Now that sounds like a fun shipment!!! Great job.
I will have a box of "girl" stuff going out next Saturday....6 scented lotions, body wash, emery boards, some hair conditioner and a few magazines
Just got back from the Post office, thank God they had a cart for me to bring in the boxes. So, all of mine are on their way. I just cann't wait to see the total end results of this adoption. I love it my son will get to see first hand what Molly's is all about and what I do with Molly's.
Thanks goodness for the cart, Pam, or we might have to worry about your back from carrying all those packages in. Knowing that your son is going to be a recipient makes it all the more fun, I bet! He's gonna be so very proud of his mama!
I will be shipping 11 boxes filled with all kinds of goodies, snacks, water bottles, drinks, candy, etc.
I have 1 box with a mixture of toiletries.
I have 1 box with approx. 50 bars of Dove soap
I have 1 box with 34 Degree deodorants for men
If I can get my hands on some more customs forms before the deadline, I could send about 3 or more boxes filled with full size shampoos and conditioners.
