I have been with my sailor for a little over 4 years but have been best friends for 6 years. He graduated from boot camp January 13, 2012. He went to A school in San Antonio and is currently waiting to start classes to be a coreman. We have decided we want to get married for many reasons but we want to make sure we get married early enough so I am on his orders. We want to do the courthouse ceremony and do a whole ceremony later at a better time. I am new to the Navy and am not sure how the process works. I know he needs to fill out a chit and get it approved before we get married. Does anyone know how long this process of approval takes? Also how far in advance do we need to get married so I will definitely be on his orders? Any information concerning this process would be greatly appreciated!

Did your fiance graduate from 908? My husband graduated the same day and is actually down here. We got married at a beautiful bed and breakfast last month and it was perfect. I had to go through the process of getting the chit and getting into DEERS, send me a private message if you would like!
Yes he did graduate from 908 as well! I do recognize you as well. Thank sounds like so much fun, we plan on getting married in the tea gardens this weekend and its all very exciting. I have to go to work right now but i will be messaging you later!
That sounds great! If you need anything just let me know. I'm actually a professional photographer with my own business so if you two would like some pictures taken, I'd be more than happy to :) Hope to meet you this weekend!! You can get my number from my hubby via your soon to be hubby if you would like! I don't check this site but maybe once every other day or so.

My husband's PIR was the same day. He is also in San Antonio in Corpsman school. I was just there visiting him, I actually just got back last Monday. But if your fiance is in the same classes or he started around the same time then he should be in phase III right now because my husband was and he was able to stay so it was nice. Congratulations on your upcoming marriage.
I posted earlier regarding the minister but I don't think it ever took - but if you go to The Perfect Union.org it's Rev Wendy Rieley and her number is posted. She is great and will help you get every thing done if you don't already have it taken care of! Sorry I missed getting this info to you earlier.
And SA does require you to have a copy of the military ID in order to get your marriage license and a notarized copy of the proxy form along with a copy of his drivers license. They wouldnt return the copy of the ID to me, but I asked them if I could watch them shred it otherwise he was going to flip out - and they did shred it right in front of me. I gues if they didn't do that every girl in the area could say she was marrying a military man with out proof.
