OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

pir march 30th. going to nuke school. liberty time????help.
help. my daughter is in ship 10 division 102 and graduating march 30. i was told that my daughter was flying out for nuke school on the 31st and that she had leave during part of the 31st until she had to report back to the barracks before she flew out. i've just been told by her dad that she only has liberty for friday. help. i might need to change airline tickets (i planned on being there all day on the 31st to see her and flying back on the 1st.) please anyone that has any info please,PLEASE, REPLY.

I can speak only to "our" experience. My son graduated BC on 11/18/11 and flew out for Charleston on 11/19. He did not have LEAVE, he had LIBERTY on 11/18 until 8:00 that evening when we had to bring him back to BC. We met him at O'Hare at 5:00 am on 11/19 and spent the day with him at the airport before his flight left at 7:25 that evening. You CAN meet up with her at the airport (whichever one she is going to fly out of) and spend the day with her until she leaves. You will also be able to wander the entire airport--the USO will be able to tell you exactly where you need to go to get a "pass" to get through security (you don't get waived through, but since you aren't going to be getting on a flight, I call it a "pass") so you can walk around. If she does leave from O'hare, believe it or not it's not a bad place to hang out. Granted, it's not the most comfortable, but there's lots to see. Congratulations on her upcoming grad! Be very proud! I hope this information helps you.

Don't panic! Everything will be fine.
The Sailors graduate (PIR) on the 30th. They will have liberty with you the rest of that day. Your daughter will know when she needs to be back at her ship when you see her. In most cases, she will fly out sometime on the 31st. You can go to the airport with her. If her flight is an early morning flight, you'll have a few hours with her at the airport. If her flight is later in the day, you'll have more hours with her. When my son PIR'd, there was actually a group of Nukes who didn't fly out until Sunday morning, but I don't know that that is "normal."
Your daughter will know her travel schedule when you see her after PIR. I wouldn't change anything because you won't know till then exactly what the situation is. If I understand things correctly, you will be around all day Saturday to see her when she's available. That may be a lot or a little. But your travel plans will allow you the freedom to be with her when you can.
You can certainly change your flight, but how will you know what to change it to? If you do change it, I'd make it as late as possible on Saturday so that you'll have the best chance to see her. Remember, there's no way to really know when her flight leaves until you see her at PIR.
If it doesn't cost you to change flights and you feel strongly about leaving Saturday, go ahead and make changes. If you have to pay to change flights or you want the most flexibility to see her on Saturday, I'd leave your flights on Sunday.
But it's really up to you.

Don't stress! This is exciting and stressful enough for you this week without worrying about flights. My son PIR'd on 1/20/12, got liberty on Friday until 6pm (it was really snowing!) and left at 5am for the airport on Saturday. With flight delays and mechanical problems, we ended up spending all day Saturday at O'Hare and then most of Sunday. The airline actually put all 22 Nukes up in a hotel for the night. I'm glad our flights home weren't until Monday.

hello , they are all right, you have them till 1700 usually then you can wait at airport for them to got to charleston. I met my son in charleston and he had liberty on sunday and we spent the day with him. then off to the races come monday morning, good lu8ck take lots of pictures, go early to graduation to get a good seat, I was there at 0630 and there were people in front of me, I stayed in hotel that drops you off at the enterance and took a taxi back to the hotel and then off to have lunch and spend time with your graduate. make sure your graduate orders pictures, it is amazing to see the sea of legs coming from under the door as the door raises, congratulations and thank your sailor for their service for me, enjoy!

rnhouston it is typical now for prospective nukes to graduate boot camp on a Friday and report to Goose Creek the next day. When my son was in boot camp he flew out the next Tuesday but they have tried to tighten that up recently. You can see her on Friday after graduation and evening before curfew and then you can meet her again at the airport and be together there for some time on Saturday. That is what I would do in your situation.

Hi mhouston. My son PIR's on the 30th. He is 11/105. He is also a Nuke MM. He told me his flight will be leaving O'Hare at 1:00 am Sunday morning. So he will have Liberty on Fri and Sat.

Mine was DIV 107, the recruit (now sailor) at the front of the FB Trivia Tuesday photo. They must have traveled together. I ended up overnighting his electronics - so nice to get phone calls on his phone, and FB messages. Waiting to class up!
