My son leaves for bootcamp on Wednesday April 3, When will we know his graduation date?  We are in SoCal and need to make arrangements for the trip.

You will not know his PIR date for sure until you get the form letter, which generally arrives sometime in or before the third week after he arrives at the RTC (some come in the first week and some right at 3 weeks).  Recruits are at the RTC 7 to 9 1/2 weeks, with 8 1/2 being typical.  Your son could have PIR on June 1, but it could be the week before or after dependig on how quickly his division forms and also if there are any skipped weeks when there is no PIR.

Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in April.  You will meet others with loved ones leaving the same day/week who may be in the same TG and have PIR together.  I also suggest you join New Members Stop Here and check out the Pages and Discussions there.

Your future Sailor may want to join http://www.navydep.com to learn the ins and outs from the DEP point of view.  Craig runs that and will steer you to some good links on there.

Hi where in So Cal? My son arrived at Great Lakes on 3-27-12 from Thousand Oaks, Ca. Its been way too quiet around here and I find myself wondering how he is all the time.

Hi there, we live it Lake Elsinore. Shawn and some of his brothers and brothers in law just did the warrior dash here this weekend and we had his big going away party. Tomorrow will be a day of rest then off to the recruiter on Tuesday. Shawn has ben DEP for about 8 months so we all feel "ready". I HOPE!

Hi Renee and Mama Mia....So Cal here too...kind of...LOL...Bakersfield....But I spend a lot of time in marina del rey and channel islands...does that count...lol

congrats on your sailor......if you need any FREE phone cards for them, go to callsforrecruits.org and get some sent to you...it's fast, it's free....
