April Adoptions - We're doing TWO

Spring has sprung and it's time to get busy with our April adoptions.  Yes, ADOPTIONS.  We have two groups we are adopting for April.  One is a deployed Army unit, and the other is a deployed Marine unit.

Our theme for these adoptions is "Spring Fling".  So that brings to mind pastels, flowers, showers, beach balls, outdoor activities like frisbee, nerf balls, bottles of bubbles.  Use your imagination.

CHANGE IN SHIPPING DATE:  NOW SHIPPING APRIL 25-27.  Please be sure to ship within that time frame.

 

Our Marines, this is an all male unit of 80 (they may be on a ship when they receive our packages)

Pillow cases are good for this group.

Their Unit is the "Thundering Third" knows as the "Balls of the Corps" and their mascot is a bull.

Group 2

Our Army.  This is an all male unit of 40.  They have access to a microwave, but no fridge.  Electricity runs on generators so is constantly going out.

Pillow cases are good for this group.

The Battalion is GERONIMO. The motto on their crest is "All The Way".  If someone says "Geronimo", the response is "All the way."

Special request:  they need a coffee pot or two.  They don't have to be new, but in good working condition.  Evidently they get broken a lot, so they are in need of new ones.

@Kim, Now that is a darned good question. For me, I will commit to sending 3 boxes, 2 to the Marines and 1 to the Army guys. (With the understanding, that I reserve the right to increase the number!!) LOL!!

Maybe we'd put a note in the top of each box saying this entire box is for one person?  And I can email the contacts to be sure they know??

Or they can all get a box unless it says 'for everyone to share'  I like the idea of sending them coffee pots. Do they need coffee as well?

now that sounds like a great idea.  ONe full box for each one of them.  I wonder how we'd specify that so that they know they are each getting a box?

someone on another Navy mom group had posted an idea about how to put a color theme to each care package.  For example, this one was all yellow and they called it a box of Sunshine.  One was all blues.

Just some ideas of making the themes for spring.  Might at least help get our creative juices flowing.

Definately we'll have all the Easter candy on huge discounts in another week, so those will be in spring colored wrappers.

If we do a box for each person in both groups, I can keep track of how many we have for each group.  for bulk boxes, I can track that too, with contents, if we like.

That's sounds great. I like the idea of them each getting their own box. The last two months, everything I have sent has been bulk and I (being selfish here) want to send individual ones. I can always bulk other stuff but thinking what they would feel when they get their own box just gives me goosebumps!

Think I still have 6 tubes of shave gel when Wal Mart had a clearance.  Do they want any water bottles with their drink mixes?
