Hi Gracie,
No call last night here either. Hopefully on Monday. I don't think they get to call on the weekends. You never know. I hope!!!! I never wished the days to go by fast until my son entered BC.
Blessings,
Joanne
Yeah....
We all got our call today... I am glad we finally got it and we could hear our boys. I hope everyone had a great conversation with their sons.
God Bless,
Kathy
Indeed we did!!! It was Awesome!!! We had just arrived to the restaurant to have lunch as we sit down my phone rings, I look at my husband and my younger son, Alberto. I look at the phone and see the 847 area code and look back at them and say "it's Erick!" with a huge smile and kinda teary eyes. I answer and he says "hi mom", OMG, the best feeling ever!! I just wanted to cry and I say "hi mijo, how are you" I continue with "you sound sick are you okey, are you taking anything?" he said he was fine that he didn't want to take anything that he was okey now it was only his voice/throat. I guess he doesn't want them to have him rest then delay his BC. Understandable. He supposedly said he had 30 minutes but we only spoke for almost 10 minutes. Even though it wasn't long, it was long enough to keep me sane for another two weeks of so. The best thing is that since we were all together, he got to speak to all three of us(dad, brother and myself). I miss him so much... he got all his 4 wisdom teeth pulled out and he's gonna have root canal done, but he doesn't know when. Ouch!!! He says he misses us and home. He says he wants chinese food, does any one know of a good restaurant close to the base where we can eat chinese food? Plz let me know so I can take Erick there. He said he will most likely be able to spend Friday with us and that they might leave on Sat. early morning but he will let me know as soon as he gets more information. I am praying that they get to stay a little bit longer, at least until Sunday.(pray, pray, pray). When he said he had to leave I asked him to plz tell Matt, Anthony, and Joe that their families love them and are proud of them and are praying for them, but he told me that they too were making their calls home(Anthony already had, early this week). I am so glad they have each other for support and I am so thankful, to this website, that we have each other for support.
Thanks to our veteran moms, u ladies are wonderful and i thank u for all the work u do to make this happen and all the information u provide for us!!! You are all AWESOME!!!
It's now a wonderful beautiful sunny day in Texas!!!

Since my aunt and uncle live 15 minutes from the base I will ask them about a Chinese restaurant. They should know of one. I'm glad you all hard a nice little chat. Joe also cut his call short 11 min. 36 seconds. I had so much to ask but it just wasn't long enough. I am thankful to hear his voice though. He did tell me Monday would be 3-5 and they start the Marlin training. Tuesday will be 4-1 weekends don't count. I am not sure if I found the info here, what they do daily but I have it in my email if anyone wants it. (day to day break down of activities)
God bless and many hugs to you all,
Kathy
Gracie
other than the Chinese Restaurant in the mall they are not sure of any other but they said there is Chiban Japanese Steak House in Gurnee. If you are going in early maybe you can drive around an look if not let me know and when we are there I will look around for you. We will arrive Wed. so I will have time.
Hugs,
Kathy
Hi Kathy, would it be too much trouble to ask you family if they know of any Sushi restaurants? Anthony loves Sushi and I doubt they've been getting any in the mess hall, haha!

Awesome Gracie!! so happy for you and the others. It's a great feeling to hear your boys voice, isn't it? They're young, strong, and tough and they'll all get through this. Remember our boys are among only 2% of the National population that are going thru this so BE PROUD!! They'll all be Sailors before we know it!
Got two letters today!!!! Awesome!! One was to tell us(Mom, Dad and Beto, little brother) that He Loves Us!!!! Sweeeet, the other one is to tell us his experiences, he said that next week, which I think was this week, was going to be "Hell Week" to wish him luck because they told them that this week either makes or breaks a division, I hope this week went well for them. He also asked me to wish him luck for next Tuesday, which again I think it was this Tuesday, he was having his Physical fitness test #2. I feel awful that I didn't get the letter b4 so I could write him a letter wishing him good luck :(
He asks for me to keep the letters coming and that he loves all the pictures I've sent him. He said that the Petty Officers and Chief(RDC's) are actually nice to them now since they have been teaching them for a good while now. I feel good about that and thank those Petty officers and RDC's for not giving them such a hard time. Hope it stays like that for the rest of BC. I can only pray that it does and that he passes his 2nd PFA. I hope they did well during this "Hell Week" . I will be praying that they do good on Battlestations, I think he is getting a little worried about that and about falling asleep during that night. He said that they told them that if they fall asleep they don't pass. Bless their hearts, they have a lot on their shoulders! Let's keep those prayers going and those encouraging letters and cards. He says the cards and letters are motivating and inspirational.
God Bless our Boys/Men!!
Many Blessing to all,
Gracie
I got a call yesterday, Hooray!! It was around 6:16pm and it lasted a little longer that the first call last week. He said they did well on their "Hell Week" and he did well on his 2nd PFA. He said they pass their weapons turnover inspection(I might have the name wrong, I think he said PEWPI ??) I don't know if all of our boys got to call, he really didn't have much time, I could hear them rushing him and talking to him. He did mention that on Monday, tomorrow, they have a written test and sometime this next week they have drill inspection, so let's keep them in our prayers and keep those letters coming to them. He said not to stop writing to them.
Ladies, let's keep our phones near by so we won't miss their calls. I am praying that you also receive calls from your SR's
Blessings,
Gracie
