OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My daughter is leaving in 3 weeks for basic training emotions coming full blast!
My daughter is leaving for basic training in 3 weeks wow once April hit, it hit me hard as well...its so hard because she has so much to do and everyone wants special time with her lol....although I am so proud as well as her father man I feel like someone is sitting on my chest...she wants us to say bye to her at the recruiting office she said this will make it easier to get on the plane and have a strong piece of mind :( I am so nervous because she is a girl please anyone who had a daughter go in what can she expect or what information can you provide me with. Im so excited for her and she's so excited to start this experience!!

My son Alex left on March 12. It is awful ! He told us to say goodby at MEPS but we ended up going to the airport with him and we all cried ! It is tough the first couple days. When you get the box with all the things they had when they left its hard. Were in week four now. He graduates on may 4. We are all the way in Washington state and plan on bringing h im home after A school We miss him so bad it hurts but it is getting easier !

Awww thanks so much for the feedback...she is persistant on us saying bye to her at the recruiting office I want to see her off but she said it just will be to difficult for her.....I havent been away from her more than 2 days of her whole life lol!! I just pray for the stregnth.I got 3 weeks to go I know this site will become my new best friend when shes gone......

Hi proudmomdesi,
The one thing that was my saving grace (besides this website) was knowing that they are safe, being fed , clothed and watched over very closely. Compared to them going off to college where who knows what is going on .....that gave me some sort of peace of mind!!! She will gain discipline, values and respect ..... it is really amazing to see the change in two months time !!! It will be hard at first until she is able to write and call - but it truely is something to be so proud of her for. I wish you the best on this new journey - You and her will do great ;):)

If you are on facebook go to the Navy recruit training command page and look at the pictures. Our son is nearing the end of BC His PIR is 4/13. It has truly been a rollercoaster ride. Constant tears gradually gave way to less frequent. By the third week when you get your first real letter it gets much easier and time begins to pass at normal speed again. Now we are returning to the tears phase as we are so close to seeing him. Go to YouTube and watch all the bootcamp videos. Send her with stamps and phone cards. Howeverour son missed his call so we have not heard his voice. I wish I had made a video so I could at least hear his voice. His letters have matured also so I know he's okay. You will survive this. I believe it s 8 weeks preparing US for them to be on a ship for months at a time.

My daughter (my best friend) went to bootcamp last July. We didn't go to the airport, just saw her being sworn in and she left on shuttle to the airport with 10 others. I thought that would make it easier for her. I am tearing up now just thinking of that day. To be completely honest, that was the hardest day and the hardest and longest 8 weeks of my life! I cried every day for the first 2 weeks! Lucky for me, I got the form letter and the box on the same day or I don't know how I would have handled it! But, it will get easier I promise! Friends, family and even your husband will think you have gone off the deep end because of your emotions! All I can say is, come to NFM very often! Everyone on here will understand what you are going thru and will be a great big shoulder for you! Your daughter will be fine! Her first letter will most likely make you cry. I wrote my daughter letters every single day after she left and mailed them out as soon as I got the address. Well, when she wrote the first letter, she was upset because everyone had gotten mail but her. Thought we didn't care, broke my heart. Well, person in charge of mail was still in training and the next letter I got, she told me she got 22 at once. She loved for me to send pictures and the form letters (questionnaires) found on here. Anyway, bottom line, it will be difficult, but, with the help of NFM, you will survive. My daughter is now a corpsman in Bremerton, WA and helps deliver babies :) so very proud of her and she is very happy!

My daughter just PIR'd this past weekend 3/30. She did great. So much better than expected. She was a HS cheerleader and went in blind.(she didnt want to know anything) We went with her to MEPS to see the last swearing in, and stayed til the bus came to take them to airport.She said the 1st week was the worst-missing home/friends/boyfriend and being exhausted.The change was bad for her. Then she gradually adjusted. She grew to respect her RCD and met so many friends.She loved all the girls. After seeing her from when she left was amazing!! You will be so very proud of her. Send an activated phone card, stamps, and bandaids. She can take her phone with her- She will call you from her phone then she will send it home. Send lots of mail and prayers!! Good luck to you both. And stay on this site for "mom" support. Other moms will feel the same way . Your daughter will be Great!!!
