My #3 son left for boot camp last year and I missed him so much BUT I knew what he was going through and feeling as I am retired Navy. What I didn't expect was how hard it would be on me. I really believe that Mom's have it the hardest when their kids go off to boot camp. It wiil be ok, cry all you want but try really hard not to cry when they call. I always tried to be upbeat and positive. I did write twice a day which my son loved getting. Start planning on going to Graduation if you can as it will give you something postive to look forward to. The eight weeks go faster than you realize and the things they learn will stay with them the rest of their lives. It will be ok.

Once I get a graduation date I am planning definately I think thats what is going to get me through this 8 weeks lol! Crying has started since I saw April on the calender it had seemed so far away! I try to be positive around her now but she knows....I always tell her Im proud and happy she's going toward her dreams just sad shes leaving i try to encourage her as much as possible!

My son leaves for basic training on April 24th....I can totally relate :(

teresac yes thats the same day my daughter leaves from Denver they probably will be in this together lol!!!

Wow !  That would be cool.  My son is leaving from San Francisco Airport I guess....we live in Napa, so I'm guessing he will go from SFO airport.  This is going to be so hard!!!

I Know teresac66 I know these next 2 weekends are going to go so fast!!

My SR is also a woman, no longer a girl with the decision to make this life choice. She is still my girl, but I won't tell her that. lol  I do think we have different thoughts they the N4M of guys. There are lots of females there and I am sure that it will be just fine. It is just our nature to worry about our girls more then our boys. I had 3 boys and when the oldest went in the Marines I had totally different feelings. Just know he left a boy and came back a man and I am sure it will be the same with our girls. In as girls out as women, much more confident and sure of themselves and proud that they made it through.

Hi proudmom/Desi the feelings are mutual my Daughter is leaving May9 and April is ending i am geting anxious, nervous and just all mixed feelings. My daughter don't mind us going all the way to the airport as long as i don't cry, but i told her that is hard:) we had a bon voyage party for her last saturday and everyone was so all over her. I wish your daughter all the best.
