that does suck for them "/ I'm sure they'll have another round in a couple months if not sooner. I'm really hoping that they'll be handing out a lot of AEGIS pretty soon since not a lot of people have been getting them lately. And the fiscal year brings new orders/openings since they are organizing everything within the Navy. We heard that we might even have to wait for the new fiscal year to start to get orders, but crossing our fingers that's just gossip!
There's just as many people who want CIWS than it is AEGIS CIWS it's just a whole different system, from what I understand AEGIS is more computer based. The AECF rate FC or ET all systems are great rates in the Navy and the outside job possibilites are good for all.
Different strokes for different folks. Can't blame us for rallying behind our husbands' dream lists.
lol wow i didn't mean anything by it and i said absolutely no where that there weren't as many good job oportunities outside the navy. settle down trigger.
I was just giving basic info. no harm intended, Thought maybe you would like to know the difference between the two.
thank you for sharing! this helps a lot!
So for anybody hoping for AEGIS orders - DH's chief told his class yesterday that there are only 12 AEGIS orders left this fiscal year. Big bummer, because since he is comping this week, all the orders are going to sailors from earlier classes.
Thanks for posting this!
My husband went in and talked to his instructor about this - and they said that the 12 AEGIS orders are actually left for the entire calendar year! Definitely makes it tough. I don't know how accurate the information is, you know - it's all hear say - but I thought I'd at least let you all know what we heard.
i feel bad for the guys because they really wanted aegis, but everything works out for a reason :) thanks for the update! next on his dream list is tomahawk so hoping he gets that :)
I am in the same boat! We are here till ATLEAST October. Do you live on base? We live in Waukegan :)
Just heard the other day from my husband - his instructors told him that if you're graduating before July - you're likely to get orders ASAP as of October. But if you graduate in/after July, you're likely here through January. Just an fyi for anyone that's wondering. I can't believe it's so backed up! Now that the weather's all nice, I don't mind being here - but not looking forward to the dreary winter again :/ Maybe there will at least be some snow to play in this time around! haha
