April Adoptions - We're doing TWO

Spring has sprung and it's time to get busy with our April adoptions.  Yes, ADOPTIONS.  We have two groups we are adopting for April.  One is a deployed Army unit, and the other is a deployed Marine unit.

Our theme for these adoptions is "Spring Fling".  So that brings to mind pastels, flowers, showers, beach balls, outdoor activities like frisbee, nerf balls, bottles of bubbles.  Use your imagination.

CHANGE IN SHIPPING DATE:  NOW SHIPPING APRIL 25-27.  Please be sure to ship within that time frame.

 

Our Marines, this is an all male unit of 80 (they may be on a ship when they receive our packages)

Pillow cases are good for this group.

Their Unit is the "Thundering Third" knows as the "Balls of the Corps" and their mascot is a bull.

Group 2

Our Army.  This is an all male unit of 40.  They have access to a microwave, but no fridge.  Electricity runs on generators so is constantly going out.

Pillow cases are good for this group.

The Battalion is GERONIMO. The motto on their crest is "All The Way".  If someone says "Geronimo", the response is "All the way."

Special request:  they need a coffee pot or two.  They don't have to be new, but in good working condition.  Evidently they get broken a lot, so they are in need of new ones.

Well, Carol I have finally gotten down to the 2 main issues:  packing for NY; and packing for hospital, rehab, or whatever.  I sent my dusting and vacuuming fairies your way.  Did they get there yet?

My hubby is doing laundry now at 9:22pm EST.  Will have to get some of that thru the dryer so that I can pack.  I'm giving up on my #2 issue (the hospital) and just going to do packing for NY.  No one knows it yet, but when we get home on Sunday "the fur is gonna fly" and they BOTH (husband & son) had better be ready to help.  (Do you all know that phrase??)  Would you believe I have to shower with a special antibiotic wash AND only go to bed if the sheets are changed first??!!!!!!!  Those instructions HAD to come from a doc with a housekeeper, no ordinary person can do all that is on that list without help.  2 hairwashes, 2 showers w/that stuff, clean sheets and PCs (well, OK); and special creme to put on your leg.  Can anyone tell me how I'm supposed to do this while balancing in the shower??  LOL  Oh yes, and get plenty of rest the night before.......

My hubby would love the clean sheets every day.  Have a great trip to NY, and have your family call me if they need "gentle directions" for your care.

had an email response from our contact with the deployed Army unit regarding the coffee makers/pots.  he says they do need the entire thing, the coffee makers and the pots.  Used are fine as long as they work.  and could we please send coffee filters too as they do not have any.  He says they are all garbage disposals, so anything we want to send they will love and they are very appreciative of all our efforts on their behalf.

Ok a change in the direction instead of asking my workers my Sunday school group is so excited one of the ladies is an Army mom of 2 Son's both active she and all the group are so excited to be putting together fun boxes.  I told them my goal is 6 boxes 3 for each unit and there reply was oh that's easy.  So let me know what you think.

 

Hey Donna your right it is Doctors who came up with all those instructions prior surgery.  We call it the pre-surgery aroebics. good luck with all that.

thanks--I have some inquiries out and will let you know if I hear anything.  Here's another question--guessing if we get a new coffee maker, we need to put it in a different box so it's not enticing to other people who see the shipments?  Also, maybe I should be trying to get one that has one of those metal carafes to it instead of the pyrex glass pot?

hi Carol.  a metal caraf sounds great, if you can get one.  I know they will love anything.  Definately I'd say a different box to ship it in.

I have a used Mr. Coffee maker that works just fine.  If that's what they are looking for, I can send it.  I will add filters and some coffee, too.  Let me know.
