For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hi Cindy. If you search through the groups for a group called Dep - Leavin' for bootcamp in May you will find other moms with kids leaving during the same month. The group runs year to year so the activity there may seem very old but as May gets closer the group will start picking up as more moms join. Some of us (like me) were on this site long before our kids leave and others join right around the time they are leaving - but you will get to know lots of other moms, probably some that will end up in your son's training group. Good evening ladies.... JoAnn I am in Texas how awesome to have a daughter going in ..I cannot even begin to stress, what a comfort this site is for me right now. It has allowed me to somewhat educate myself and get different ideas when it is time for his PIR. I actually first started looking at this site while my son was in high school several years ago and in Navy ROTC.....I am so looking forward to meeting others who's children are going in around the same date and as my son builds new friendships I will with him......Merry Christmas everyone.

Cindy this will be your lifeline as the date gets closer. My son leaves this Thursday for Great Lakes. I have learned so much from this site and it has helped a great deal. I've hit the part where I cry now cause it's so close and he's my last of three kids to "leave the nest" so I'm having a pretty tough time. Don't know what I would have done without the great folks on this site and their wonderful support and advise! Good luck to your daughter!

My son, Kyle, will leaving for Boot Camp on June 24, 2012. It will be hard on me the mostly and he is my first child but I am very close to my two kids. I am deaf. It will be hardest on me than other mothers beause I cannot talk with my son over the phone during boot camp weeks....It is not going to be easy on me and my hubby since we are both deaf! Need to talk other moms who their kids go to boot camp in June 24, 2012. This website helped me alot

Hi, my son leaves on May 1st. We have known the date for a couple of months now. I am very excited for him. Not to concerned about his leaving, yet. He has been living away from home for a while now. He will be an older recruit as he is 25years old. He will be spending the last month at home, before he leaves. That's when I will be anxious. It's amazing to see him make this very big decision with confidence.

I am excited too for my son, he is 21 years old and about to start the most exciting journey of his life. He has always lived with me, but it is time for my little bird to fly. I too have watch my son as he goes through the changes he is going through. Since he made the decision to enlist, I have seen him become more focused and determined about his future. It makes me proud to watch him.

My son is leaving for Denver on May 2nd and will be riding the Bus to BC early, early May 3rd. We are in Colorado. Maybe they will meet up.

I don't know if this is getting posted. I have tried twice. My son leaves for BC very early morning May 3rd. Does anyone know how the Navy handles the scheduling when the anticipated PIR would be near July 4th?
