Moving to charleston- Best area to live?! (West ashley, north charleston, mt pleasant, summerville?)

Moving to charleston area to be closer to bf in goose creek, but I am not a fan of goose creek.  I'm looking for something like mt pleasant with the bars and shops and restaurants on the strip in a nice community, but it's a little out of my price range.  Anyone have any other suggestions?

I've heard that Sommerville is a nice area, just north of Goose Creek.  Many seem to like the North Charleston area around Northwoods Mall.

I've heard Summerville is nice. You could also check out Hanaha? I think it's called. I think it's about the same drive as Mt. Pleasant.

Aaron lived in North Charleston just before the mall. The Berklies at St. Ives or something like that. It was a nice little area. Definitely nothing like Mt. Pleasant, but the price were decent and I loved their apartment.

A lot of people like Atlantic Palms. It's pretty much the nicest place closest to base in my opinion.

I would do Summerville over Hanahan. Summerville has a bigger and cuter downtown area with some great dining options. There's also a strech that's considered "historic" with gorgeous homes, gardens, parks, etc., but it is more of a drive than Hanahan. To be honest, there's "sketchy" areas in all three towns (Summerville, Hanahan, and Goose Creek) but Goose Creek's major downfall is that it is totally lacking in entertainment/going out department.

As for North Charleston, there's Cooper's Pointe which is near the mall too (I think it is next to the apartment complex Emily mentioned).

There are nice apartments in Daniel Island but since it's basically next to MP, chances are it is also going to be in that same price range.

Good luck!

Yes!  GC has nothing!

Tell me about it! I'm from NYC and basically consider eating out routine. It's been a lot of fun playing in the kitchen though. And of course, so has experiencing the lowcountry as a moveable feast!

My son lives in Hanahan and it is not far from Goose Creek.

okay thanks all!!!  I think i'm going to check out summerville in general and the st. ives apartments!
