You can re-use a box that you have (make sure all previous labels are removed) or you can buy a box at office supply stores or UPS stores.
I'm the Lorraine you have down for one large flat rate box (Army). I will try to put two of everything in the box so my box could be for two. I could designate that on the box or make two packs within the box.
OK thanks ladies for the update I will mail next wednesday or so that will help. That way I can tell you what we have packed after Saturday. One of the Ladies is connected with a dentist office and got a box of tooth paste donated. I believe we already have a box of toothpaste & toothbrushes so if we don't need them for this adoption I thought I would hold on to them for the next adoption. I don't know if we have toothbrushes yet she hadn't heard back yet on that. Just let me know.
Mombyheart, The Post office sells sturdy boxes for parcel post also, larger boxes are between $3 and $4. Depending on the zip code/weight, you might find Priority mail is almost as reasonable as parcel post. If so, you can take two of the non flat rate priority boxes (probably size 0-7) and tape them together if you need height. Your box will go by weight. You can also ship the box the coffee pot came in. The only markings that you need to remove from re-used boxes would be barcodes and company addresses. Once you put a nice white label and customs form on the box, it will go through just fine. To calculate your postage, you need a weight and zip code at www.usps.com. (Retired postmaster Lorraine)
I am going to have to mail my box this afternoon or tomorrow morning. Chaz has been hurt and they are flying me back to Cali for surgery. My bags are packed and I am ready to get on the first flight as soon as I know when he will get in, they are still trying to make arrangements to get him back. I don't know how long I will be gone, so I need to mail now.
I went to look for the address and seen they have not been posted yet. So I guess I will not be shipping this month, I will hold it back for another month's shipping.
April adoption shipping addresses are now posted. Shipping date is now April 25-27.
I have ONE box, with 10 seperate goodie bags in it. I will send to the Marine group....Ally
I'm going to add two more large flat rate boxes to this project (I'm already down for one so this will make 3 boxes total). Each of my boxes will be for two soldiers. I designated my first box for the Army. Please let me know where you would like the other two boxes to go. Are the figures above up to date or do we have more boxes promised now? Thanks!
Lorraine, yes the totals are up to date for what has been reported to me.
I will go ahead and put you down for 2 (one box) for the Army unit, and will put you down for 4 (2 boxes) for the Marine unit. Thanks a lot.
Thanks for your prompt response. That is what I will do!
I just had 15 boxes sent to the Marines from a group that helps the vets here in Oregon --they will ship in a week to them
I think we have another 16 boxes we could get our hands on if needed --let me know sistahs
