Spring has sprung and it's time to get busy with our April adoptions. Yes, ADOPTIONS. We have two groups we are adopting for April. One is a deployed Army unit, and the other is a deployed Marine unit.
Our theme for these adoptions is "Spring Fling". So that brings to mind pastels, flowers, showers, beach balls, outdoor activities like frisbee, nerf balls, bottles of bubbles. Use your imagination.

Molly, I know Colton is my " adopted" son but I am so freaking proud of him. His mama sure did an outstanding job raising him
AWESOME. and that is a mighty fine young man you have raised.
Great Ally. Thank you.
Kat, the 30 cup maker was gone when I went back :( I have been looking but can't find another one in my budget so I ordered a 12 cup maker from Amazon and sent it directly to the POC with a note. It takes a few more days for the free shipping so I ordered it this morning so it would get there about the same time as the rest of the packages.
Kim, that is AWESOME. they will be very happy.
I just got final confirmation on the shipping address for the Army this morning. It is correct and good to go. Our contact is a wonderful young man who had given me great insight to their daily lives. He has told his guys that our shipments are coming and they are all so excited and sooooooo appreciative.
Got confirmation that pillowcases are great and they will really love them. I know one person had said she was taking care of them. He said that one mom is making these special blankets for their entire unit and that the guys are loving them and the pillow cases will add a nice touch to their rooms and will go into their memorabilia boxes to bring home with them.
I haven't heard directly from our marine contact, but the contact person who I have heard from, I think a mom, has expressed how utterly appreciative and excited they all are to receive our packages.
Reminder: please be sure to write on the outside of each box if it's "Individual" or "bulk". I have advised the contacts for each group to look for that wording on the boxes. Thanks.
Woke up at 3 am this morning to a 3/7 Marine standing in my living room :) Him and Colton had never met before and now they act as thick as thiefs I think this is good for both of them ----he is going to help Chris Transition out into the Veteran system and the Marine is simply adorably sweet
SOOOO GUESS WHAT I GET TO DO TOMORROW ???
I'm having sea (colton sailor) on one side of me and sand (chris marine) on the other and we are going on the internet to troop shop ---yep I am going to have both of them show me EXACTLY what their buddys would want.
Colors and styles and certain kinds of socks and gel soles etc etc ~~ How fun huh ?? Most definitely taking pictures of that !!
YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Oh and thanks for the individual and bulk reminder Kat !
And an MAS mom sandwich picture, too!
Kat: Put me in for 1 box to the Army unit.
great!
Yay! My friend KB was excited when I told her about Molly's Adopt a Sailor. She donated enough snacks so we were able to fill 2 boxes instead of 1. Please change Kayakhinkle's total to 2 boxes going to the Marines instead of 1 box. Sorry Army -- I'm the proud daughter of a retired USMC Major. You know where my loyalties lie!! :-)
OK update Im so excited the packing party got 16 individual boxes 12 for the marines & 4 for the Army, I have an Army mom with a son getting ready to deploy on his 4th tour so we had to do at least a few for the Army. She was so proud Plus a bulk box with a coffee maker, filters & coffee. It was so fun my church group hopes to do this again hopefully sometime this fall. Molly hope your having fun.
