Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

No need to worry. Some write a quick note, others do not.My son did not write a note so he was doing whatever he was told. I was thinking it took him too long to write all the stuff in this perfect handwriting, that he didn't have time. How old is your son? Mine turned 25 on the 18th. Hardest birthday ever!

I've from Texas, about an hour and half out of Houston. What about you? I just got through writing him but instead did a list of question so all he had to do is fill in the blanks with short answers and a few multiple choice and return in the envelope I provided. LOL My daughter-n-law has been writing everyday so he will get pounded with letters when they find their way to him. I can't wait to get that first letter.

My son is in Div 178 and I was so excited to get his address so that I could mail out his letters. My oldest step son in in A school in Great Lakes so they are literally across the street from each other right now. I miss them both but an so proud of them both. I can't wait til graduation!!! 54 more days!!!!

My son left on Wednesday...4/18. How long does out take to get their PIR date? Wondering if he has the same date our maybe the week after. Would be nice to book airfare asap

It depends...My SR departed last Thursday and those that showed up the day before have a 6/8 group. It's a 50/50 deal. You can call his recruiter and ask him what division he was put in and he should have an address. Although I've heard other moms say that address is not always the correct one. We got our address last Tuesday from the recruiter and his form letter came Saturday. You can stay in this group until you know for sure.

I'd also wait for airfare. I checked into airfare with refundable/exchangeable tickets and they were almost double the cost. My friend who is a travel agent said she'd book 14-18 days out. By then, all they will have left is Battlestations. Just a thought.

I was so hoping for a letter today, seems everyone here gets letters on Wednesdays.....Oh well maybe no news is good news but im getting a little concerned. anyone get any letters yet??
