Hi Jitterbug..I received my daughters letter an box yesterday and she is also Ship 11 Div 179. I'm sending her letters out today..I'm so glad to have someone else in her group. What is your daughters name?

Hi shelbysmom!  My daughter's name is Joanna.  When I got her letter yesterday, I was at work and my son called to tell me that it had come.  I had him give me her address and her father and I immediately mailed the letters we had already written.

Oh that's perfect! Wasn't it great to get the letter? Ours only took 6 days but it felt like a long time.

I sent several letters today so Shelby will have a constant flow of mail.

How are you holding up? Is Joanna your oldest? Where are you from?

We're in Arizona. Shelby is my oldest of 4 and the first to leave home. I haven't seen any others in our ship/div number yet..anxious to start getting to know other parents so we can all stay connected. :)

Getting her letter was wonderful.  Even though she didn't write anything other than "love you guys" I was so relieved to get it.  She is my oldest at 21.  I have a 19 year old son too who will be leaving in October for the Marine Corps.

Last week was rough.  I was missing her so much.  This week not so bad.  I think getting that letter helped so much.  However, I can't wait for June 15th!

We are in Maryland just outside of DC.  I am a Navy veteran.  I did 4 years straight out of high school about 30 years ago.  I know that this experience will be a good one for her.  It was a great experience for me.  It taught me responsibility and gave me a sense of pride and I am hoping she gets the same thing.  I know it will be tough and hope that she can handle it.

Jitterbug,

I can understand how you feel. I was raised my an Army Officer. My youngest, a son left 5 weeks ago for the Air Force and my daughter, who would have graduated from College next year decided she was not happy and went Navy.  What a crazy few months.

Hi Shelbysmom,

My daughter is also in Ship 11 Div 179.

I received my letter yesterday. My daughter is also in SHIP 11 DIV 179.

Sherry

So glad you got your letter and welcome to the group!

Just booked the hotel and rental car..not sure if we should wait to book the airline until after "the call"

Have you seen anyone else in our ship and div? I told Shelby to let others in the group about it so we can get to know eachother over the next 8 weeks.

Jitterbug..wow..You have been through this yourself. That's great. I can't imagine the kids all leaving so close together. I know it's part of life but YIKES! This made me realize how fast time is going. :)

Yahoolady..HOLY SMOKES...that is a serious crazy few months!!

I'll have to draw my strength from both of you. I still have a house full that keep me very busy.

Ladies,

I just booked my flight, I can change if needed. Where is everyone staying?  My daughter will be a "Grad & Go". So more than likely I will leave on Saturday night.  I am flying into Midway on Thursday afternoon.

Yahoolady51

Good Morning Yahoolady51..I booked us at the Ramada but I have not seen many others there. Looks like so many places to choose from. Lots of the grad rates are filling up.

How do you know your daughter is a "Grad & Go" I hope I didn't miss something.

So much information.. :)

She will be attending Tech School (A School) in Pensacola FL.  I have been told that is a "Grad & Go".  She will leave the day after graduation.  I so want more time with her.
