There is a chance there wasn't time for him to make the I am here call.  No news is good news...Also if he JUST left as in today...there is a good chance you wont' hear from him until really late today or early Friday

The reply from Angie is so true and also she is an expect on the "ins & outs" of the Navy.  My son left on a Tuesday around 1:00 PM and we got the short 5 second call around 1 - 2 AM .  I heard many Moms say they did get the call and some didn't get a call.  My son has been in since July 09 and believe me when I say "no news is good new".  My son called 4 times while in boot camp. Also he is not much of a writer so we got 3- 4 letters if that many.  I wrote to him about 3 - 4 times a week and send cards quite often.  Once I knew what group he was in I joined that group of Moms and tried to keep up with what was going on.  That helped me a lot.  Yes, I was very worried through the entire BC process and still miss him today. He went in as a young inmature boy and is slowing turning into the young man we know he would become. He has married and soon will be a new Father.  So many things have happened since the beginning.  He is happy and so of course that makes up happy.  It is perfectly normal for you to worry.  If you have questions just ask away and there will be many people on this website to answer and maybe help you get through the tough times.

Juliana...I hope Angie's and Connie's comments have put your mind to ease a bit.  Maybe by now you have heard from him. If not, like they said, no news is good news. Soon you will receive a letter from the Navy providing your son's mailing address and also the date he will graduate BC.  And of course, you will receive a box with the clothing he wore when he left.

So as soon as you have his PIR (graduation/Pass In Review) date, join that group's forum here on Navy 4 Moms. You will then be able to share and learn with the Moms/Wives with recruits who will be graduating at the same time. You will learn alot, and you will be able to receive and give support.

Try to relax and look forward to PIR. You will be amazed and so proud of everything your son will accomplish during the next few weeks. Thank you for allowing your son to be part of the greatest Navy in the world!
