Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Boot Camp Graduation
Hello my name is Shawn,
My son, Tyler leaves June 7th for Boot Camp. We live in Orlando, and I want to plan the trip for the graduation, from Boot Camp. I was wondering where to stay, the area, etc... Does anyone have any suggestions?

You won't want to plan anything in the way of reservations until you receive the official "form letter" from him letting you know when his PIR (graduation day) is officially.
We drove to The Great Lakes from Washington State, and stayed in Lincolnshire,which is about 15 minutes from RTC (Recruit Training Center) and all freeway. Take plenty of coins of all denominations for the weird toll rates...from .35 to .90! Most of the toll stations are not manned, so you have to throw the coins into a huge vat. Because we drove I don't have any experience on flights, airports or rental cars, but I'm sure others will chime in on that info.
In Lincolnshire we stayed at The Homewood Suites. VERY nice hotel. We had a 2 bedroom 2 full bath suite with a small kitchen that had everything you need. There is also a pull out hide-a-bed in the living room. They have a FREE full blown breakfast every morning, and dinner Monday-Thurs. I don't know if the dinner is free, we didn't eat dinner there. There is an indoor pool also.
IF your son's A school is NOT at Great Lakes, he will most likely be leaving for his A school sometime the Saturday after PIR. Our son's bus left RTC at 4AM, and his flight left Ohare med morning that Sat. Our son had Liberty from after PIR until 7pm that Friday, and then he had to be back on base for Friday night. We met him at the airport at 430am and stayed until his plane left Sat. AM. You don't have a lot of time with your son, so make every minute count.
The Sailors must be in full dress uniform the entire time they are in public while on liberty. If you take him back to your hotel, he can change into sweats/shorts as long as he stays in the suite. If he wants to go swimming, he must be in his swim trunks from bootcamp.
You will not regret for one second attending PIR. It was rather expensive, but it was worth every penny spent. RTC does an excellent job with the ceremony and really makes you feel proud that your an American. Have fun!

Thank you for your post. We re goign out on June 15th for the PIR. We are staying at the Homewood Suites and I was a little concerend because I didn't see much inforamtion about anyone staying there. Thank you.
