First letter came yesterday, I got one his sister and nephew too!!! My son sounds amazing he really sounded upbeat and is having fun and loving the Navy. Yes he loves boot camp and said the food was good. I am so excited and can't wait to see him the 22nd, flight, car and hotel are booked. Next step to hear his voice!!! hope we all get our calls on Mothers Day.
FYI there is a facebook group for your division...https://www.facebook.com/groups/100487750090093/
I have received at least 3 calls from my son because he needs additional information for his security clerance. the first call he sounded a little under the weather, sinus/allergies kicking in, the second he sounded tired and the 3 he sound like his self. Said he is tired, learning a lot, is starting to miss home and my cooking. He has shin splints because he is not use to running in steel toe boots, but over all he is doing well. Said one guy was trying to start mess with several of them and even bumped into my son to try to get him to respond, but he did not. The guy was put back a week. I guess their are bullies even in the Navy.
I also received my first letter from my son yesterday and it just made my day! I hope all have a wonderful Mother's day and I look forward to meeting all of the families with sons/daughters in this division.
We received our first letter from our SR yesterday, it was very positive, said he was helping others study. Just nice to hear from him and know all is well.
Phone call came today!!! It is true the call can come at any time my son called at 4:30 GL time. He sounded amazing very upbeat, said he had earned the call but he was suppose to be on guard and someone took his duty so he could call home. Thank you so much to the man who did that for my son and myself. I held it together during the phone and just let him talk, then I heard a man yelling "times up call time is over" we said a fast good buy I started to cry and then continued to for a few mins after we hung up. What a great feeling to hear his voice again. Hopefully all of you will get a call soon!!!!
I have received a letter from my SR, also missed a phone call from him today! :( very upset about it but he spoke to my mother and said that he's doing great. Some information that might be helpful is, they can only write on certain days and they actually can receive mail each day. They have the chance to earn a phone calls and thats how my SR got to call home today! They don't need calling cards because the time is just deducted from their pay, and that also goes for stamps. (so no need to send them in) In my last letter I asked if there was anyone not receiving mail, if there is some I will share info so that we can all send our support to them as well. I spoke to LALA the ribbon lady and ordered our ribbons for graduation! I encourage everyone to get them, they are super cute and have the ship and div number on the ribbon so that we can all recognize each other at graduation! Oh also I would like to share hotel info for any one who hasn't booked, the hilton garden inn has great reviews and will give you a navel grad discount! Check it out! I hope everyone gets mail and phone calls from their SR! Have a great rest of the week!
Hey NavySister, sorry you missed your call. I have a question about the ribbons. Where is the information about ordering ship/div ribbons? I would like to order some as well.
Hey mom2five, her name is Lala she is the "ribbon queen" here is the link to her page http://www.navyformoms.com/profile/Lala you can pay via paypal or mail a check to her. I am looking forward to getting ours I think they are so cute! I believe they are 6 bucks each and you can pick different lettering colors and ribbon colors. Hopefully this helps! Oh and yes Im bummed about missing my call but I have received letters since so that makes me feel better knowing he is still doing great!
uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com this is her email as well :)
My SR says that the division is really coming together, and everyone is making good friends! He seems to really be enjoying it, although he didnt love having his wisdom teeth pulled.
Received our second set of letters yesterday. It's so nice to have some communication with my SR. He missed getting to place a phone call last week because he had his widsom teeth removed. I'm so hoping that he will get to make it up. My SR did report that the division earned its first flag for academics. Their next opportunity to earn a flag will be in a couple of weeks after the next personal fitness assessment. It sounds like the whole division is very proud that they finally have a flag to display. I hope everyone else got some great letters this week.
