It would be great to talk with the other moms and families who are on the same ship and Div as my son.

My sailor is the third oldest out of 11 but the first one to really leave home.  The oldest two moved out to go to college about 45 min away form us.  I didn't think it would hit me so hard since we still have 8 kids at home but his leaving really left an unexpected hole.  Having said that I am beyond excited for him.  He worked long and hard for his EOD contract.  An added bonus is we now have the chance to gain an office/guest room.  We tore into his room the day he left and hope to have it completed by the time he has a chance to come home.  I needed to get his room redone, walking by the door was killing me seeing all his stuff in there.

tatmom4rc(Ship12, Div. 204) hey i just realized we are in the same ship & div. you are the fist i have seen maybe more to follow soonEh

wow 11 well each child has their place in our hearts & in the family and any time one is not in place they are missed. My daughter & i kind of thought it would be easy when she left to go to collage because it was only 45 min's away, we sorta thought the space would be good for us. Also in my mind she was the 2nd one to go it should be easier since i have done this once. But it hit both of us MUCH HARDER than we expected. So i guess my point is no matter how we prepare somethings you just don't know or can be prepared for until you go through it.

mommafinn - This is actually the 814 Division...SPECOPS. Why don't you start the Discussion for the 204 Division?! "If you start it , they will come...!" :-)

WOW momof11, that is amazing. I had a hard time with 3.

Let me introduce myself, my son was in a Spec Ops 800 Division, October 2010. He had a SEAL contract at the time. I have been helping FireTeamLeaderWife for quite awhile in the Spec Ops groups and hopefully can answer your questions, concerns, or just lend an ear. As a mom, I know how you are feeling, and this is the best place to be. Make friends, offer and get support, and share stories. The next few weeks will be over before you know it and you will be hugging your new sailor.

Hooyah Division 814

I wish we could have been in ya'lls division.  When Bob was a little boy, he looked at the clock one day and said, "Yook, it's B-O-B time!"  He was right, twice a day, if I look at the clock at 8:08, I think of my little boy.

Hello my name is Jessica. First of all I would like to thank FireTeamLeaderWife, for answering my questions regarding my plane tickets. I love reading all the wonderful stories, I have learned so much. I mailed my SR eight letters on Monday. I was curious, when I address the envelope am I supposed to use capital letters? My son's official letter's envelope had all CAPITAL letters. I believe it may be incorrect, however I mailed my letters like his with capitals. I pray no ones thinks I am screaming at them. Have a nice evening.
Thank you, I feel much better.

Hey ya'll!  I, too, am a new veteran mom.  My son PIRed 4/13.  Yep, Friday the 13th!  He is presently in GL in diver prep school.  If you have diver questions, I'll be glad to ask him, since I don't know much, yet.  My son is the youngest of three.  He went to Auburn University for four years and decided that the Navy was calling his name.  We'll see how it goes!

I have some suggestions concerning PIR.  First, we stayed at the Residence Inn so I could bring my son's favorite meals.  We packed them on dry ice in a cooler and checked the cooler as our 2nd piece of luggage on Southwest.  It also saved a ton of money and time.  Our son really liked being able to sit in his shorts and t-shirt to eat and talk.  And boy, did he have stories to tell!

Since he was staying in GL for prep school, we had all day Saturday and Sunday with him.  We went into Chicago Saturday and had a blast!  Since he was in uniform, we got into many places for a very reduced price.  ALWAYS ask for a discount, even in stores, because most everyone gives one, but they will not offer it freely.

He went with us to the airport on Sunday.  He and his girlfriend were able to go through the pilot/stewards line since he was in uniform.  My husband and I went through the Express line - what a joke!

I have other suggestions, but I'll hold those until closer to PIR time.

awwwe how sweet a memory

FYI.....there is a facebook page for your division

https://www.facebook.com/groups/224319664337896/

Ditto what Cor said. I looked at this FB group and waalah there are pictures of their sailors, last name, etc.

Another problem this causes and I have seen it already, is that now they know who each other is and mention it to their sons. They repeat things they read and now there are problems within the division. On here no one has to know who your recruit is unless you want them to know privately.

Ditto, ditto, ditto! My son's RDCs checked regularly FB and this site. My son said there were ALOT of embarrassing moments for some guys.......and pushups to go with them.
