It would be great to talk with the other moms and families who are on the same ship and Div as my son.

My sailor is the third oldest out of 11 but the first one to really leave home.  The oldest two moved out to go to college about 45 min away form us.  I didn't think it would hit me so hard since we still have 8 kids at home but his leaving really left an unexpected hole.  Having said that I am beyond excited for him.  He worked long and hard for his EOD contract.  An added bonus is we now have the chance to gain an office/guest room.  We tore into his room the day he left and hope to have it completed by the time he has a chance to come home.  I needed to get his room redone, walking by the door was killing me seeing all his stuff in there.

Couldn't agree with you more.  Not sure who started the fb page, ( and it seems like a great idea at first thought) but definitely should be shut down.  We can talk all we want on this site :-D

Hello, yes my son Josh is ship 04 div 814. I become frustrated with my I pad nd my MacBook Pro is so heavy. I am sorry I don't say much. I guess it is all my medications I am on. I have Chron's Disease and I am praying I don't get sick on the flight. I will be leaving from California to Milwaukee, WI thanks to what I have read on your wonderful site. I still have not booked anything, because of my illness and this is will be the second time in my life I have travelled. I am very inexperienced. I love reading all your comments. I am going to try to sleep for a while not feeling good at all. I pray everyone has a blessed and wonderful weekend. Please keep the tips coming. Please tell your SR's Joshua's mom say hello and thank you for protecting our beautiful country. I pray we all see them soon. I know how much they are missed. I grew up in southern CA. What part of the state are you from?  We left CA about 23 years ago in order to raise a family and settled in Ohio  where my husband has family.  My son has an EOD contract, what about yours?

I am so sorry it took me forever to respond. I was having problems with my I-pad. It just gave me the reply button. I live in Salinas, CA. John Stienbeck was born here. We live about 20 minutes from Monterey. My son Josh was born at St Joseph's Medical Center in Burbank, CA. However, I was raised in Salinas and we moved back in 1994.
How do you like Ohio? You are blessed with eleven children. I am not sure what kind of contract he has. I know he is working hard to become a rescue swimmer. Josh is so funny because the officers have yelled at him a lot. He does not take it personal and loves being at RTC. He said they are 78 people in his division.
What is your son's name? Does he like BC? How's your office/guest room going? I can imagine how hard it must be for your family to have him far away. My daughter is 18 and if God is willing she graduates June 31, 2012. How she misses Josh. Will you and your loves ones be at PIR?

We will be at PIR, all 13 of us plus a new daughter in law and my SR's girlfriend.  It has been a whirlwind spring.  We have a college graduate, a son's wedding, PIR,and my husbands graduation from his masters program.  I'm thinking a couples get away is in order for the end of summer.  I loved growing up in Southern CA but did not want to raise a family there. I love Ohio.  We have a mini farm on 5 acres, lots of trees, a pond and creek.  It is very peaceful being away from a big city and all the people. Will your daughter be at PIR with you?  It would be wonderful to meet you.

Wow, your family is busy. However, all exciting wonderful events. How proud you must be, it appears you have a wonderful family. I think that is the coolest 3 graduates (husband, college and sailor). Plus a wedding, time to celebrate and take tons of pictures.

That would be nice if you and your husband get away. You both deserve it you've raised great kids. I bet your family would never want to leave your neck of the woods for Southren, California. I know I would love mini farm, creek and pond.

Unfortunately my daughter will stay home to take care of my mom. My mom is 78 years old and does not like to travel much. However, my husband and I will be there. If God is willing. I just pray the weather will be nice. Yes, I would love to meet you and your love ones.

I have older parents also, in their 80's who need a lot of care.   Mine live several states away so it gets a little frustrating at times trying to do everything long distance.  It is wonderful that your daughter is willing to care for her grandmother.  It seems like most kids just want to take from grandparents not give to them.

Yes, I can imagine it's hard. However, it appears you love and care for your parents. That is what counts. My parents always gave us love, time, and everything we wanted out of life. It was funny because I graduated from Vocational nursing. In the hospital, my mom and I took care of him. A nurse told my dad how lucky he was to have my mom and me. His reply, "I deserve it because I always gave them everything". Yup, he loved us. I miss Josh. He called me on May 31 and I missed his call. Thank God I received his voice message and he spoke with his sister.
