May is here and it's time for our May adoption.

Our group this month is a Black sea Rotational Task Force.  They are a Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force, and yes, you guessed it, they are deployed in or around the Black Sea!  They consist of 350 males and 5 females.

Our theme this month will be "baseball".  Let's see if we can send some love and a little piece of home to brighten their day and their spirits.  Be as creative as you like.  Maybe you can add an item with your favorite team's MLB logo on it. Some ideas might be a baseball hat, water bottle, baseball cards/gum packs, etc.

So, let's get motivated Moms, and hit this one outta the ballpark!!!

Needs:

*razors

*insoles for boots

Wants:

*snack foods(all types)

*DVDs

*books and magazines

*pretty much anything else!

*pillowcases are okay to send

We will concentrate on sending bulk boxes, instead of individuals.

Don't forget letters and cards.

We will ship on May 19-22.

Hi, Just wondering if you can post what you are planning to ship , so that I can have some idea of where we are at.

Please let me know if they are bulk or individual and a general idea of what the contents are.  Thank you all so much!

I have 15 bulk boxes. Contents: 50 insoles, toiletries, chap stick, bug spray and wipes, snacks and goodies, magazines and books.

In my four bulk boxes are nuts, bubble gum, chewy candy (tootsie rolls, taffy), sunflower seeds, 4 pair trimmable insoles, 2 DVDs, banana chips, dried cherries, 7 stick deodorants, canned fruit, canned chili, oreo cookies, crystal light variety pack of 44 individual packets, 6 baseballs, two jars spice assortments. I've started looking for deals as soon as one adoption closes so I'm not buying everything at once. One Dvd has a number of old Westerns on it. The other is The Open Road, a baseball movie with Jeff Bridges and Justin Timberlake.

Lots of great stuff there....THANKS!

Monday I am shipping the 7 pillowcases, some magazines, game books and some yo yo's I found stashed in a box!

Thank you very much, I'll put you down for that.

We need to remember to send scizzors to trim the boot insoles!

The St. Francis de Sales packing party is this Saturday.  The kids had fun shopping and all of the $1,000 has been spent.  Donations are still coming in but I would guess to say that we have about:

40 medium size bags of beef jerkey, 100 slim jims, 200 razors, 20 toothbrushes, and a huge mix of individually packaged granola bars, trail mix, skittles, pretzels, hard candy, gum, dried fruit, and water bottle drink mixes.  I don't have as many cards and letters as I hoped for but the kids are bringing blank cards so folks can fill them out at the packing party.

As a wild guess, I would say that we will have at least 20 boxes.

Laura, thanks for the reminder of the scissors!  Enjoy your packing party;  thanks for doing this....so much great stuff!

I almost chuckle when you ladies talk about sending scissors for them to trim the insoles. I know several Marines and they wouldn't be caught without a knife and could do just about anything with them. lol  I know not everyone does but where I come from that is just part of their uniform ;)

I'll be sending a few snacks with my pillowcases. I don't know how many, it just depends on how much room the pillowcases take up.

Hahaha...that does seem silly when you think about it!  :-)

Packed my one box last night.  It has 6 goody/snack bags, 6 toiletries bags and 6 insoles.  My daughter wrote the cards.  Two friends had donated items for the bags also.

Got it...wonderful, and thanks so much to your daughter also for the cards!

Darn, I remembered to pack my box to mail Monday (it's here on vacation with me--driven it 900 miles, and then it's also going a longer way.  What a trip for a box.)  But, I forgot to bring the cards the kids made for it.
