Our sailors will moving on to the 2nd phase of "Nuke" School. Indoc starts on Feb.9th and classes on the 13th. Since we will all be in the "same boat" together, I thought it will be nice to share our experiences. Lets continue to support our sailors and each other!

You were right. After leaving 5 messages on his phone, he finally called back. I think he gets a kick out of his worry wort of a mother. Said he was going to have his friend's listen to my messages. He did pass both tests but said a lot of the kids did poorly on the inrate test. Told me he is just mediocre no matter what he does. Told him in the long run as long as you pass no one years from now is going to ask how you did on a certain test as long as you know your job.
We have made reservations in Charleston for the weekend after graduation. I think he should come home with us for a week as he is of the understanding there is going to be a 6 month wait before prototype starts. He can fly back from Florida.
Oh, so glad you heard from him. I think they have to do this kind of stuff to prove to themselves (and to us worry wart moms) that they are MEN now, not our baby boys. I'm going to see my son in a couple of weeks and I KNOW I have to refrain from throwing my arms around his neck and giving him a big kiss, but it's gonna be difficult.
I have to get on the stick and make our reservations SOON. Are there any good recommendations for cheap places to stay? I know at PIR we stayed at the NAVY Lodge but what about Goose Creek?
I agree that your son should come home for a visit, I'm hoping mine will too.
Shannon,
You could try the Foster Creek Villa's on base. It's old base housing that they rent out for around $70.00 a night. I'm not sure if they are booked up yet.

It shows about 10 hotels within 5 miles of the NNPTC.
Does anyone know what time graduation is on the 20th?
Happy mother's day to all. It will be a year on May 22 that my son went to boot camp. In so many ways it seems just like yesterday. Hopefully this time next year he will have completed the third phase of their training!
