My son Carlos is in Ship 12 Div 204.  He left Dallas/Ft Worth on May 7, 2012 for bootcamp.  Doing A school there in Great Lakes as well.  So far, have received his box and first form letter.  Anxiously awaiting a more personal communication.

Hi Renee

My heart aches with yours--I too am anxiously awaiting a reply.  My son, the youngest of four sons, is my baby, so to speak (not a baby anymore).  This is all unknown waters for me and I'm in the anxiety boat with all the moms.  Its really nice to chat with all the anxious moms, it really does help the day go by.  Well a letter or phone call would be nice next week, I pray for all of us to hear something.

I have discovered that I am not a very patient person when forced to be patient!! Writing him helps, sent him two pages today about one little funny thing that happened recently and it helped me see his face as if I were telling him in person. Sigh.

I'm glad to hear the letters are starting to come!  I drove home (10 miles each way) today on my lunch just to check the mailbox, since I'm not going straight home tonight.  No letter :(

Wow, we're awfully quiet in here. I'm hoping for a personal letter this week.

How many states do you think our recruits represent? We're from California and I know there are at least a couple from Colorado and BirdsMom's recruit is from Texas. I think my "I'm here" call was on a borrowed phone from N Carolina (bless you, whoever you are).

Any ideas what week our recruits are in? I'm thinking they might be beginning week 3. And so the countdown continues.

Your Recruits are just finishing Training Week two...should be starting Three later this week!

LaurieS,

I think we're at the end of week two.  (My son had P-days for quite awhile before they got rolling.)

We're from Indiana, if you're counting states.  :)

I had a phone call today!  I was in an assembly with my kiddos.  My husband had texted me so i had turned my phone to vibrate.  I happened to stick my hand in my pocket and felt it vibrating.  When i looked, it was a 847 number.  I was close enough to the door to step outside and answer and sure enough, it was Michael.  He had just a few minutes and sounded like he was choking up.  I know I was.  I thought I was prepared for "the call" but, nope.  I think it coming at school really threw me for a loop.  He said he was fine, going along as expected, and hanging in there.  I told him how proud we are of him, and how much we loved him, and to hang in there.  All I can say, is thank you, thank you, thank you, to whatever officer was in there with him for letting him call me.  He had already called his dad to get what he needed for his security clearance.  He said they are in week two and he is looking forward to  seeing us in a few weeks.  He also said that the first chance they had had to write was Sunday but that he had been receiving our letters.  And again, if the powers that be do check here, you have made one Navy mom a very happy, if emotional, mom.

Woohoo!  I'm so happy for you Laurie!  I bet your heart feels ready to burst and your feet probably haven't touched the ground, yet.  Thanks for sharing.  It gives me hope that our letter or call can't be far behind.
