Craig- Thank you for the list. My son and a friend of his are leaving the same day. They go to school together and graduates this Sunday. But, it's nice to see others from all over the states that are leaving also. Looking forward to talking to each other and hearing all the experiences that us moms go through. Never thought being a mom was going to be this hard, but I have faith and n4m to help me through it. He's my only child and I have been his preschool teacher to his bus driver. I just quit bus driving the last day with my senior. It's a whole new chapter in my life also. It's going to be a journey!
My Son leaves from Pittsburgh June 21st. And I am dying. How hard it must be for you being that he is your only. My son is my baby. I am taking 3 days off from work just to try and cope. Me, his Dad, sister and cousin are going to see him swear in and leave from the airport. His rate is electricians mate, just like his Dad.
Hi clarks1fan, Your'll need that time off. It's been a emotional ride for me. I had a very hard time when he went to MEPS the first time. I had to go to the doctors, was put on meds and talked to a therapist. I coulnd't function and that was in January. I'm doing a lot better, but I still have my moments. I'am excited about meeting new moms and seeing what groups they are in. This site has been my best friend, to the point that I'm not getting anything done! When does your son graduate? Mine is this sunday.
He graduates highschool June 7th. He can't wait to leave. I love this site too. I am trying to figure out the best place to stay for PIR. I think it will be Gurnee from what I read on here. I just hope he has time to spend with us after. He is going to A school at Great Lakes so he doesn't have to travel so heres hoping.I know that it is wishful thinking but I hope he gets stationed in Virginia Beach. Only an 8 hr drive. I got thru MEPS just fine, he had to go twice, because they needed more people to sign up?? I don't know what that was all about. We were worried he would pick a rate that wouldn't get him skills he could use if he chooses to get out after his time.
Hi clarks1fan, Today is my sons graduation, hoping to get through this. Already broke down this morning. It's going to be a long day. I was telling my son about your son, so maybe they will be in the same ship together or whatever they call it. He's is going in for operation specialist. As you said about hoping he goes to Virginia, thats my hope also, but he wants to go to California! Virginia is a lot closer and I can drive there. Well hope your having a good day, I'm gotta go to graduation!
