@ceej: my son is in that division also...thanks for sharing that I was not aware of the flag that they earned>>>Congrats to Division 187 ship 3....Job well done. I have heard from my son that they are very busy, working hard..they still need work...but they still have 4 weeks...... Have a great weekend everyone Go Navy!!!
I did not know about the flag either...Congrats to all those guys.
Wow... I didn't know about the flag either that is great! I have gotten a few letters and just missed a phone call tonight. I just keep crying I know they work hard for their phone calls and I missed it. I left my phone for 5 mins and that's when he called. Hopefully he got to talk to someone and will call home again real soon. Keep your phones close don't make my mistake.Take care all.
I received a short note yesterday, it was written just after the call last week, he said the division is really coming together he had mentioned the flag during the call as he is helping the others study, and loves that they got the academic flag.
He also ranked up which was good news, funny thing is his brother (younger) is leaving Tues for his first deployment and didn't rank up when he was in bc, so he would have to salute him if he saw him, but won't get that chance as he'll rank up before he returns home from his deployment.... the hard part is over for them, the next few weeks should be more fun then putting it all together for battlestations, they should do well, and will be one of the first to call home for the I'm a sailor call, my youngest called @ 5 PM the evening before graduation.
Thanks mom2five.....I hate that you too have missed calls.....love how you tie your phone to your hand great idea!!
Hi eversteamco...what does a SR have to do to be able to rank up? I never knew they could during basic...but congrats to you and your son. Is anyone going to Sarge's get together Thurs night? I am so excited about PIR and to see my son.Well lets all keep our fingers crossed it is a holiday weekend maybe just maybe we all get CALLS!!!!
They can rank to E2 if they meet certain milestones, not sure exactly what they all are, but not that hard to achieve, younger son should have but missed his count during his PFA, and thats all it took. If they don't rank up in bc it takes 8 months to do it..... so good if they can do it while there.
Thanks eversteamco....does anyone know how many SRs are in a Div? just wondering
I think up to @ 80 to begin with, and then there's some attrition, due to injury, set backs, illness..... which is why no news is good news... if you haven't heard differently then they are still with the division that they started with, which means they are meeting milestones and "getting it".... which means they will graduate on time if they pass battlestations .... Hooyah!
My youngest who graduated bc on 10/7 is on a flight to Bahrain, as we speak.... first deployment..... can't wait to hear all about it... he left messages for his big brother in bc last night as he boarded the plane, he'll be able to hear them in a few weeks.... Proud mom!.... missing my boys....
Hi ALL....DId ANYONE get a call from their SR this memorial Weekend. I did not and neither did my SR's girlfriend.!!! UGH
Oh well only 23 more days until PIR. Hope ALL are doing well, Hopefully today I'll get a letter!
I got a call Saturday around 4:30 CST from my SR. He sounded very tired but otherwise good. Counting the days until
PIR. It was great to hear his voice! Hope to meet some of you there!
Great you got a call! I did not. Is there anything you can share that your SR mentioned about the division? Tests, flags, that sort of thing? Thanks!
He said they had earned another flag but I can't remember what it was for. maybe safety? They were starting weapons training this week. They also have their dress uniform & have had their graduation pictures made. He said they should be in somtime this week. Any free time is spent studying & letter writing when possible. He told his Dad Happy Birthday which is on June 10th because he was afraid he would not get another call before then. This call was a special earned call because he passed a test when on watch one night. He talks like a man not the boy who left here that is for sure. He sounds positive and has a new way of thinking about his life and the blessings he has been given.
