Thanks Judi! Sounds like it was a great call. I am glad they earned another flag. When my Sr writes, he never mentions any of that kind of stuff ;-)

I haven't received any letters this week from my SR, but his girlfriend did.  Hopefully, I'll get something today.  Anyway of note for the division, I guess they did remarkably well at Marlinspike.  The division passed with flying colors with no safety violations, which I guess is almost unheard of.  Typically there are 8-12 violations.   I'm not sure if this earned them the second flag that we have heard of or not.

That's awesome!! Only received a small note last week which was written after the phone call the week before, so hoping for a letter soon, he had thought he would get another phone call before his younger brother left for his ship.... :( didn't happen sadly..... My younger son left him a long message to listen to after graduation, and just got an email from him, he is on the ship and safe! Yeah!! Two sailors in 8 months!!

WOW eversteamco, 2 sailors in 8 months!!!! And you are still sane ;-)   Last week we only received a very short note, and so far this week, nothing :-(  Lately we have been getting letters on Thursday, but not yesterday because of Memorial Day. Nothing today either. Oh well, I am sure he was thinking of us. If anyone else finds out new  information, we would all enjoy the updates!

Thanks Judy for the update on the Marlin spike performance....WOW that is great for the division..So excited for them..they are working sooo hard.

And Eversteamco: WOW 2 sailors in 8 months ..congrats to you and your family...and safe travels to your one son and the other SR is his PIR 6/22

Thank You Ladies, funny thing is the one that deployed we can communicate with... the awesome thing is he has access to email daily and is telling us all about adjusting to life on the ship.... our SR of course limited ... and he's not in the middle of an ocean somewhere.... looking forward to 6/22

Hey everyone I just wanted to share some information that my SR shared with me- nothing to serious. I send him one of the questionnaires for him to fill out weeks ago but he's just now getting to it. It was filled out last Monday the 28th and he said they are in week 4 day 2. So Im guessing today is week 5 day 1. Anyways he also shared that they designed their division flag and it has a "Ship" on it LOL. On a scale of 1-10 he said that the division is a 5 as far as working as a team. Apparently he has a lot of Intense Training (IT/punishment) that he has to do, he said that he gets it for any little thing. The Marlinspike is his proudest accomplishment and the flags were PFA (physical fitness assessment) & Zoning and Safety. Other than that his spirt and attitude are very high, he is really enjoying himself and said that it was "fantastic" he raves about the food and is very proud of himself. He also mentioned the names of a few of his new friends! Well only 19 more days to go! Oh also I wanted to share the ribbons that Lala the ribbon queen made us I think you may still have time to buy if you haven't already! uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com This is her email! Thanks and if anyone has any updates please share :) have a wonderful week! oh and if anyone has any information on any SR's not getting mail please share, this breaks my heart and my SR(brother) ignores my question every time I ask in my letters lol!

That picture is really big! lol sorry guys!

Thanks to the update Navysis: I too ordered the ribbons. Mine have not arrived yet. Its so nice to get updates from others. I write and it doesn't seem like he has alot of time to write long letters.  But anything he has written thus far is up beat. Just 18 days more and we will all see our SR but before then we will continue to waut patiently for those letters and calls. Keep in touch everyone. Again thank you to all who have shared about their SR and the division.

I think several got phone call yesterday.... me included.... Yeah!

Last couple of busy busy weeks, but the end is in site, my SR said that he thought they had at least one of each flag and several pennants too? Final tests coming up. Good news is my son on the ship is able to write via email almost daily.... life is good!

We finally have everything booked for our trip. I am super exchited and cannot wait to see my son. I have missed him like crazy (he and I are very close). It has been great getting his letters and talking to him over the phone. I love hearing about his division and everything he is doing. The next 17 days need to fly by. This Texas mom just hopes it not as hot in Great Lakes as it is here in Houston. Looking forward to meeting all of you. Hope you all have safe travels in the up coming couple of weeks :)

MHunter I heard that it was pretty nice in chicago right now, a friend of mine just got back from a unrelated visit and said that she needed a jacket! lol crazy right-ive never been so getting excited. I also live in Texas (Dallas) and it is getting so warm here it was 95 today and no breeze!! The bugs are awful because of the mild winter and I am over summer already and its only the first week of June. So I agree Chicago MUST treat us better! I think that the next two weeks will go fast, the time so far has-for us anyways, some days better than others. I look forward to meeting everyone too! Are you attending the meet n greet with Sarge? My mother said that he is supposed to be the best thing out! Well like you said only 17 more days! yeeeeeee!!! :)
