My son leaves for GL on 8/8 and I am excited, proud, nervous, a bit sad and much more! Lots of emotions! He has been a DEPper since early November, so I should be ready... but not really!

He is in for 6 yrs because he is going to be a nuke. He says he wants to make a career of the Navy. Time wll tell.

I have 4 kids... a married son (lives close by), a daughter 22 (in college and moving out next month ~finally), my DEP son- 18, and my baby~ almost 15 yr old son.

With my daughter and my Navy boy leaving soon I am going to have a near empty nest, after YEARS of having a full, noisy house. I also hate autumn, so I am thinking I need to be VERY busy when that time comes. Life is about changes. I know that, but it sure is bittersweet to let your babies grow up!

So, how are you gals doing?

Oh, my! Is she going to cut it before she goes? I believe I would.

My son has finally started TALKING about what he needs to do before 8/8! LOL!

He is working out a lot.

I am practicing NOT crying...  ;)

ZZsmom~ Sounds like your daughter is getting ready.

My son is in Chhicago this week ona choir/mission trip.

I told him to enjoy it, because his next trip to Chicago in August

will not be as much fun! ;)

Next week, when he gets home, we will work on his room.

I think everyone at my house is starting to quietly freak out a little as we realize

that SOON he will be gone!

I texted him today and told him I missed him~ he replied" sorry mom, but

you better get used to that"... EEEK!

take care~

hugs~dale

Hey Dale!!!! Don't know if he will have time but from what I understand the Navy is doing something they never do and opening up Great lakes to the public this weekend due to its 100th anniversary! When I heard that yesterday I wish I was close enough to go see it before Billy goes but since he's up there it might be something he would like to do (if he has the time).

Oh, that would be so cool. He is with the youth group from our church (about 75 people counting chaperones) so I doubt he can  go, but they did go to the Navy pier this morning!

Thank for the info! ♥

My daughter cut her hair a couple weeks ago so we could see how long it gets during the time. She will get it cut again before she leaves. She now has 6 weeks from today.
