Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Battleship
My husband Jeff and I saw "Battleship" last night. We paid the outrageous price of $10 each for our tickets, and I thought the movie was worth every penny! Jeff is a Navy vet, formerly stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, where a lot of the action takes place. He thought the Navy stuff was accurate and used in an entertaining way (even tho the plot is off-planet!) I'm wondering what other Navy moms may think of "Battleship."

College daughter # 2 and I caught an early $4.00 matinee yesterday- and we thought it was a great summer action movie.
Of course- like all of us on the boards we have a bit of insider knowledge- and I wonder if that is what kept me glued to the screen?
Navy son has put in 2 (WESTPAC) deployments so far- one was initially to be on the Reagan- but he was reassigned to a squadron who flew out on the Nimitz- and then the Stennis- so daughter and I elbowed each other when the Reagan appeared.
I have Navy mom friends who have children on the Sampson and the JPJ- it made me think of all the late night emails we shared seeing if anyone has heard from their kid while at sea.
My dad is a living Navy vet (Gunners Mate) (Korean War) - so my heart stirred at the sight of the Pearl Harbor vets who still could "rock and roll." Also nice touch adding in the stubborn Army vet on his way to total rehabilitation!
Navy son just arrived at K-Bay - not too long ago- I was thrilled to see local shots of the base. Yes, I'm saving up my money to go see Navy Son. Yes- I'll see the film again with Navy son once we connect again.

Hubby and I went to see it tonight! We both enjoyed it very much and will see it again with our sons (one is a Seabee Reservist).
It was great to see some of the "innards" of the Ships and the Sailors "all at work" even though like you said the enemy was from off planet! Seeing various aspects of the uniform ( I had to ask the hubby what the gloves and face covers were!)...loved the young Sailor Ord! "Just give me an order Sir! I don't know what to do!"
I am active on the PIR boards on here so the USS John Paul Jones made me think of the Recruits currently at RTC. Camp John Paul Jones is one of three camps that make up RTC...and mostly housing for the recruits.
Then, I have been to Pearl Harbor and to the Arizona...and just like all of you...the scene when the "old salts" come into play choked me up some too! That was a very cool scene...great ending!
Hubby is AF Reserves for 27 years...my Father a Lt. Commander in the Navy,POW...son a Seabee Reservist and so on! Plus, being on here regularly for the last year...yeah, the "connection" has GOT to come into play...love it!
This may not be the "Oscar" material that all the critics rate the movies on...but in my book it did exactly what it was supposed to do...entertain! Kick Alien BUTT! We sank your Battleship! HOOYAH! LOL
**Note...there is a little scene after the credits so stay until the end! I am not going to spoil it...but for hubby and I...a couple of the earth creatures were very familiar.... as we have some!
