Good day peeps! Hope y'all are doing well!

Would you know by any chance how to access myPay? I went to the website and have read the "Guidance for New Users" part. My husband hasn't mentioned anything about it, and I don't want to guess, but would he be automatically enrolled/signed-up on it? The guide said something about an email address, or passwords being mailed. But should we sign-up first online and then receive it? Or should we just wait for it?

Thanks in advance for your response! :)

He should have his mypay access info. Technically its illegal for you to use his login information to get into mypay but he can set up a resctricted access account. But he should have his information that he can login with. If he is in bootcamp if he doesnt already have it he will

Yeah, I was kinda afraid to go on logging in and setting up the account because of the warning,

"18 U.S.C. § 1030 prohibits unauthorized or fraudulent access to government computer systems. If the credentials you enter are not your own, you are in violation of this law and should exit this system immediately. Completing this action may subject you to a fine of up to $5,000 or double the value of anything obtained via this unauthorized access, plus up to five years imprisonment."

Yes, my hubby is currently in bootcamp. Irrk. I guess I'll just have to wait to talk to him again.

Thanks meagan for your response! :)

I dont thin you could really set it up anyways. I have a friend that even works for the military as a civilian and they had to give him a login and gave him a pasword. I think when they have it they can change it but again its their login not ours. (not trying to harp on this to be rude but some wives get all rude and complain bc I am harping about stupid rules but its reality.) In the navy you will learn there are a lot of rules that leave you thinking WTF but it doesnt matter we gotta follow them. Well they do more than us lol!

You are welcome.

No worries! You're not being rude at all! :) Not to seem like a stalker but i see your reply to some other thread/forum and i must say i really admire your being blunt and straight to the point! :)

But yeah, it is what it is with the military. There are just some things that would make you think "Hey! i'm the wife. I have access to this!"  But then again, we're not the one they're paying so no, no access to everything, hahaha! :)

Oh, not every wife is a good wife.   And sometimes moms can be pretty bad too.  My ex-mil could not be trusted with access to our money.  We sent her money to pay a loan each month, and she used it herself until the loan went into default.  "I needed food money and didn't want to ask."  Oh, but you could spend our money and ruin our credit!  We'd have sent extra if she had asked.

I can understand it, I just roll my eyes, and don't admit my hubby has no idea how to work his mypay account.  Even retirees use it.

Oh no, that's really bad. Sorry about that Anti M!

I wanted to see my hubby's LES so I can project how our incomes combined would look like on a monthly basis, for budgeting purposes. Oh well, I guess i'd have to wait for him to see that.

ok so sorry I replied 3 times haha! but anywho

Its pretty easy to find out about what he will be making :)

First, base pay for E1 is 1491$ I would say go ahead and use that for budgeting purposes for right now bc even if he is supposed to leave as E2 or go in as E2 paperwork gets messed up ya know?

Second, where are you living? Google BAH calculator and enter your zipcode for where you are living and that will be how much BAH you will get. Also you will get $250 for family sep after he has been there 30 days. BAH might take a few checks to kick in.

Those are entitlements or pay It will be added together and split up over 2 paychecks.

Next, is deductions. So if he opts into the GI bill its $100 a month taken out, taxes, FICA, SS, etc. I would say about $150-200 a month. Then I think for life insurances for you both its like $40 a month, and then however much he puts back into his TSP (savings account) So subtract those and you will have a round about amount of how much he will be getting a month lol :) Might be a little more or a little less but its a good starting point

BAS is another allowance he will get but they will take back like all but $20 of it back for his food.

I so agree Anti M! I meet many wives that are not allowed access to their husbands account mostly bc they spend it all! I am sorry that your MIL did that! I am in control of our finances but my husband has umm a spending habbit.. lol but wants to save lots of money haha!

haha :) no worries I can be a creeper too ;) lol Thanks I dont like to sugar coat things leads to more confusion in the long run! lol

you will find there is a lot of that "sense of entitlement" One wife was like um when do I get my own mypay account.. ummm when you join the military or get a job with the DOD. hahaha I have heard some of the most ridiculous, outlandish demands from military wives. Its crazy! I have seen girlfriends that have been with their guy for a few months demand access to everything!

hahaha! that part where one wife says "when I get my own mypay account?" just made me laugh! but yes, there are a lot like that. it's best to understand right from the very beginning that wives/families are just dependents, no more no less. ladies should have a clear sense of the role and part they play once hubby joins the military. oh well, back to mypay, hahaha!

Ah, i just don't want to overestimate his income. We got his first pay today June 15, i thought with all the deductions from uniforms etc, it's (the paycheck) gonna be a couple of hundred dollars lol, but it's way more than i expected. So i'm assuming BAH is already included in this first paycheck. But since you mentioned BAH will kick in a couple of paychecks, maybe not?! Eh, i dunno. That's why I wanted to see the LES. =\  We're both pretty decent with our spending habits, lol, especially hubby. I keep a budget. And I hate it and love it at the same time, that i'm so anal about budgeting, haha! One more reason why i wanna see the LES. hahaha! :D

haha I was shell shocked it was on a support page on fb.. and I at first was like please tell me you are joking. haha One girl just through a hissy fit bc her sailor just got to the ship and his email isnt set up yet bc they are super busy and bc they didnt give him a phonecard which everyone has to buy. Someone finally went off on her about that too. lol She was talking crap about the ship on the ships fb page. not a good start for her husbands career.

I hear ya! I am super anal about budgeting. I just wrote one up for next month. its my fifth I have written so far. and I write a new one for each paycheck but its paid off we save a lot. Almost 20% of our check at least. Thats good you got more than expected for this one! I would say depending on where you live and a few other factors expect at least $1000 a paycheck. Might be a little more might be a little less but that is probably a good average I would say. I say depends where you live bc some places the BAH is wayyy less bc of cost of living of the area. It might have bah on it sometimes they are actually really fast! lol I did just creep on your profile..oops lol but if you live there then your bah should be a lot!! so that will be good! you could probably bump up my estimation by at least 400! If not more! but a good starting point for a budget imo. I am typically pretty good with figuring out the what our paychecks will be when we are in transition time bc most of the information can be found and then added up together to get a round about number lol :) Like I said I am a freak about researching stuff.

Taxes will be about the same ish as what I posted above and I say budget for E1 just to be safe, and then based on my creeping with your bah lol. then taking out gi bill if he does it, and insurance, and the another factor will be how much he puts in tsp every month. but like I said its just a round about estimation that might be a good starting point :) lol I always do a round about budget every month and then when bills start coming in and the actual check hits I redo it again. lol but I so get where you are coming from lol!

I am not a big spender I have to convince myself to spend money unless its on my pups lol!

Mega LOL on creeping! hahaha!!! :D But yeah, I live there and unfortunately the address he wrote down on all his applications and info is like 55 miles away from there, somewhere in the desert, haha! which is about $300 less. irrrk! oh well. we'll just have it changed once he's into his permanent duty station.

Additionally, I found this website http://www.dfas.mil/militarymembers/payentitlements/militarypaytabl... and helped a bit. I've attached files I found, but still i want the LES! -__-  haha!

Would you believe I already have the rest of the year budgeted?! hahaha! but i just want that projection so we'd know when we can spend a little bit more and by how much. And yeah, like you said, once the month hits and the actual checks are written and expenses are swiped, it still comes out differently than the budget, haha! :D
