Well beautiful, my son graduated 6/15/12 but I was in your shoes in April, sending for me - my firstborn off to the Navy!!! LOL!! I melted down and made it through and so will you. CONGRATULATIONS to you both!! I see Pittsburgh - GO STEELERS!! We are die hard STEELER FANS from DC - me and my son - and I met some STEELER FANS when I was up there for graduation this past weekend! So he'll be in great company for sure!! Assuming you are STEELER FANS, LOL!! I've never met anyone from Pittsburgh that wasn't a DIE HARD STEELER FAN!!  so if you are not - you would be my first. LOL!! CONGRATULATIONS & WISHING HIM GOD'S SPEED!!! :-))

Yes we are also die hard Steeler fans. Is there any other?  LOL. Thanks for the well wishes. He is my baby and he can't wait to go. Following in his father and grandfather's footsteps right down to the EM rate. I just hope it goes fast. We have his sister's wedding to plan for 2014 and need to get working on that. LOL.  GO STEELERS!!!

AWWWW-- I thought so -- LOL!!! you are so rite is there anything other then a DIE HARD STEELER FAN!! LOL! I think not.... I've been one since 1974 and a faithful member of the Washington, DC Steeler Nation fan Club - we have our own Steeler's bar in DC!! I raised both of my kids as DIE HARD STEELER FAN'S AS WELL!! LOVE THE ROONEYS, there would be no minority coaches in the league if it wasn't for them.!!

Congratulations to you and your family for all the wonderful things happening in your lives.. and hang in there Mom - those 2 months will go by so quick - but you already know that - you've been here before.... ;-) Nice meeting you beautiful - take care!! GO STEELERS!!!

And sorry wrapped up in myself, goodluck to your soon. Hope all goes great for him.

thank you so much!!! :-) So far so great!! :-)

clarks1fan, my son leaves 6/21 as well and there are a few other moms here whose children are leaving that day.  Actually my son leaves home in the morning, 6/20, goes to the recruiter who will take him to MEPS.  He swears in there on Thursday and leaves from there to travel to GL.

I talked to my son's recruiter and he is allowing us to take him to Pittsburgh. You can hang out with him Wednesday nite and then go to the swearing in ceremony on Thurs. What is you son going to do in the Navy? Mine is going to be an electricians mate. Are you from the Pittsburgh area?

We are from the western part of Kentucky so our son ships from St. Louis, Mo.  The recruiter will not let us carry him to St. Louis but we can meet him Wednesday night to go to supper then we are attending his swearing in ceremony Thursday morning.  Our son will be an Aircrewman (AW) once he gets through all his school.

That is good you can go spend time with him. I know I am getting every minute I can get. I used to live in Ohio Co. Ky. That is western Ky right?

Well, people from Ohio county believe they are in western Kentucky.  But most people west of the Land Between the Lakes feel that is central Kentucky :).  We live in Hickman County, 2 miles from the Mississippi River so about 2 and a half miles from Missouri.  Are you from Kentucky originally?  I will send you a friend request.

Our daughter left May 1st and graduates  next week (June 29th).  I can tell you it is hard at first but hang in there and engross yourself in this site it helps tremendously.  Just remember that we have all been there.  You are not alone.  Good luck.

My son left Pgh June 13th. They put him in the Sheraton Station Square. We met him took him to dinner on North shore, rode the T. Then to Mt Washington for ice cream. It was very enjoyable. Just a FYI so you might get the same opportunity
