Hi Lisa I am Regina. My son shipped out on June 12th. I received his box on Saturday. But I still have not received his form letter yet. I even called the recruiter and he said the info was no in the computer yet.
From what I have read the form letter is at least a week after you get the "box". My son got to GL on the 14th, we have not received the box yet, I assume this week, and we are hoping to get the form letter by the end of June so we can start making our plans. I am hoping for a PIR date of Aug 10th, but I think we are on the fence, so it might be the next week. Carrie
I got my son's box on Saturday and this being Tuesday I stiill don't have that letter. It is driving me crazy. But I keep hearing No news is Good news. So I am trying to keep that attitude.... praying his letter comes in soon.
Lisa,
My son arrived on the 13th as well, and today I got "THE BOX" and his address!!! I received the box this morning and a few hours later I spoke with his recruiter and was given his address and ship & division ## Hope you will get yours soon!!!!
Im sending you a friends request, however, I havent found a good way to communicate on this site, its a bit confusing to me...I just keep replying to these comments..
Good Luck and hope to hear from you soon!
Woohoo, I got my kid in a box this morning. From the sound of it his PIR date is going to be earlier they we thought. Now I just have to wait for the letter to let me the official date.
HI my daughter also entered basic training on 06-13 since then i only got the phone call that she made it and that i would be getting a box she did say that maybe she would call me in 3 weeks. That is way to long i miss her so much!
Ugh!!! I got the DREADED BOX today!!! How sad!!! I looked in every pocket, pants leg, shoe and dirty sock hoping for note. NOTHING!
I would give just about anything to just hear a quick word letting me know he is ok!!!
How are you all holding up?
I just got the box right now, i am bawling like a baby. My son got to sneak a note on the box top, that says "I love you guys, see you in 8 weeks" It's been a long 6 days without hearing from him, but I think to think we are down 1 week, with about 7-8 to go. We can do this!!! Before we know it we will be at PIR waiting to see them walk in!!
Carrie
As for PIR dates, Im under the impression our kids have been on what they call 0 days, meaning the first few days do NOT count. Ive been led to believe that they dont actually start counting their time until they are actually TRAINGING, all the medical and sorting out doesnt count. So we may be looking at 8/17, or 8/24!!
