My son leaves on the 12th as well. I am so sad and proud at the same time, but i know he will be just fine. He is my youngest so its a hard letting go of him. Everyone here has been so nice and supportive. I am so glad this site is here.

My son left on Jun 12 for bootcamp (basic training).  He is heading to Pensacola for his "A" school as well.  I got  a short phone call from him last night saying he made it to the barracks (ship).  I'm breathless with anticipation for the next phone call or letter.

Hi navymom42, we are on the same page.  I keep checking the bootcamp site and say to myself, ok he must be in his 3rd day of processing, if a division was formed.  And then I will leave the page up because my computer is in our dining room, so I can check it now and then.  I am missing my son Jake every waking moment and I dream too,,,geesh, I don't usually dream. I know exactly what you're feeling.

JakesMom, I have a question. How do you check the boot camp site? I didn't realize there was one. I guess I'm in the dark. Could you point me in that direction? Thanks!

I am curious about this too?

The only thing I see is where the grad dates are posted.  I can guess the approximate time my son graduates, hoping around Aug 10.  Only showing Aug 3.

Hi again, I sent you a friend request on here.  would like to hear where your from and check out your profile.  :)

I accepted the friend request.  I can run with facebook, but these blogs throw me for a loop.  Not to mention, where I work is in the basement of a building on the Arsenal.  So no facebook, Navy for Moms, or cell phone action.  I come upstairs to smoke (outside in the court yard) and bring my phone.  Then i receive emails.  With my luck these days, verizon is awful and accessing Navy for Moms is painful from my phone.  Only time I have is this time of night.  Husband and 10 yr old have gone to bed.   Now i can research more stuff.  Thanks for friending me.  I'll try and figure my site out and update.

I do! My 2nd son left June 12th and will be in Pensacola for his A school also! What is eveyone's child going into at school? This is our first experience with one leaving (22 in college at MSU but is only 35 minutes away!). When my oldest son went to college, it was hard but he could come home any time during the weekend if he wanted. This seems so permanent......well, cause it is! I wonder how/when we will find out when graduation will be?

I am ok. Just feel numb. You are right about after the phone call. It does seem so permanent. He is such a great kid, Just never found what interested him in junior college, and decided to get some education from the Navy! He is going to school for Aviation Mechanic. I worry about him all the time, even though I know he is ok. All I could think of when he left is when he was in 1st grade, he used to cry when he got to school, because he missed me! Wow. They sure grow up fast, don't they?

My son Spencer is heading to Pensacola for Aviation Mechanic type work for A school as well.  He tried North Alabama in Florence and did well the first year.  Dragged him down I think starting the next year.  I think he's perfect for the Navy as long as he gets through basic training.

I think the Aviation Mechanic type work will hold my son's interest. He is easily bored, and wants a challenge. I'm thinking this should be perfect!
