Hello CodeysMom

I am right there with you. My son leaves on July 2nd from Sac.

We will need to be brave just like our sons. Feel free to blog me, since it sounds we live pretty close to each other

Stay strong and spend quality time with him.

Hi Momplus2, Im really trying to stay stay strong for my son but I found out its not that easy! Hes trying to spend time with EVERYONE at once this last week. Its also his and his brothers birthdays Wed and Thur. so I at least get him here for those. (yeah)! We will be going to Sacramento on July 2nd to watch him get sworn in on the 3rd.  How are you doing? Is this your youngest son?

Good Morning CodeysMom,

My youngest son is also leaving on July 3 so I know what you are going through. Even though I don't get to see him too much right now since he is trying to cram everything he wanted to do this summer into a few short weeks, it will still be really hard to see him leave. What rate is your son?

Hi Jodi-Josh's Mom, This last week got here so quick! Im not ready!!!! I will be going to Sac. with him to watch him get sworn in then the longest nine weeks of life before PIR :(  My son is an E-1. Yours?  Hang in there. Im trying my best to do the same.

J's girlfriend, best friend, Dad and I will go to Cleveland to watch him get sworn in on Tuesday. It's going to be very emotional because his girlfriend is taking this hard and I'm sure that will set me off (as if I need any additonal help in that department lol). He has a contract for rescue swimmer so I think his rate is E-2 but I'm not really sure. Was your son in DEP?

I'm having mixed emotions - sometimes I'm sad, and then we end up arguing about something stupid and I think - it's a whole week away!!!  I'm going to have to start arguing with the cat and the dog, since my other son is always working...  :)

Hi CookieGVB,  Im an emotional wreck! I wonder everyday "how am I going to make it another day knowing that my son is leaving in nine days!" Im so completly proud of him and the decision he has made, but its so hard because Im so sad. Does your son leave July 3rd also?

No, he's leaving July 2nd.  A week from Monday

Sounds like we are all in the same boat and that our boys will be there together. Mine leaves from Atlanta on the 2nd. My dad, hubby, 6yo daughter and I are going to see him take his Oath.

Mine has dated more this last week than he has in months :).

He has asked us to celebrate my birthday on Sat. so that he can be a part of it. I feel bad because I feel like his last night at home should be all about him. But we are doing what he wants to do.

Do any of you have your notebooks/stationary ready for the letter writing?

Hang in there ladies, we will get through these next 8/9 weeks together, just like our boys will.  After all, we are Navy Moms HOOYAH :)

We got this...I know we'll be fine...   :)

:)

Well, we were told today that we are to meet our son's recruiter on Sunday at 4:30 so that the recruiter can take him down to the other side of Atlanta and then to MEPS the next morning. I started to cry when I got the news over the phone. My 6 yr old daughter asked me if I was crying because her Bubba is leaving for the Navy. When I told her yes, she assured me that he would be okay, that she is going to miss him to, but that she had prayed to God to take care of him. Normally, if she sees me crying, she starts crying as well. Her response this time, truly surprised me. It appears that she is picking up on taking care of me where her brother is leaving off. This time thing much makes it that much more real for me.

I did tell my son last night about your sons coming in on the 2nd and 3rd with him. He thinks that it is really cool that we are here to support each other.

We went today and got his POA notarized, which is a good thing since it looks like I'll be paying his speeding ticket for him if the cost of the fine is not up before he leaves.

Do any of you worry that your letters about daily life will bore your son to tears when he reads them? We live a Really mundane life during the summer...stay home a lot (especially now as we try to save up for our trip to PIR). I know they say that the SRs love just hearing about daily life, but please....
