Well my son just arrived and I received my call around 9p est. I miss him like crazy but know he will do great as long as I remain positive and continue believing he is as well. Stay strong everyone and know we can do this knowing we have the support of one another. Our kids are stronger then we can imagine and we need to have faith they are making the best out of every situation!
Amen! Yes this is the time to grow, learn, shine and i keep saying to myself "fly birdie fly!!!" Thats"'s what we want them to do!
It will get better in a week or 2. Clean their room and have a good cry......

Good morning ladies.

I'm glad to hear that our SRs have arrived on base safe and sound. Now, they are there for each other just like their moms, wives, and girlfriends are. Maybe they will get a chance to get some rest today and catch up on some badly needed sleep.

I was told last night that they will get to watch any fireworks that happen on base tonight from the window of their ship/barracks. I have no doubt that our SRs will be able to find that window. This makes me a bit happier as watching fireworks on July 4th is a family tradition for the 4 of us.

My daughter and I wrote our first letters last night. My daughter has some academic and vision challenges so writing her big brother is helping her in many ways. That is just like her big brother....watching over her and taking care of her even with the distance :)

By the way, my SR's name is Russell.

Prayers and hugs for all.

I am glad to know that mine got to see fireworks. Thanks for sharing that. I cried yesterday knowing he would miss that celebration because we always watched the fireworks as a family. I picked out several cards and started our letters also.

My oldest left for boot camp July 3 as well. We stayed with him until he went through the gates for the plane. He had 6 others flying out with him.

That would be great if they got to watch the fireworks. Maybe it would seem a little like home to them. Missing my SR but proud of the decision he made as I'm sure all of you are also. Hopefully, these next 8 weeks will go as quickly as the last 8 weeks went. Can't wait to get the address so we can mail all those letters we are writing. Take care everyone.
