Who else has a SR leaving for GL this week?

My son is at the hotel right now. We will go see him take his Oath in the morning and spend a bit more time with him before he leaves.

Momof4 - oh how funny. Your daughter sounds just like mine! She has been assigned to Ship 12, Division 269. I wonder how many are in each division and if they are working together. I didnt get her address until yesterday when I called the recruiter. The box came today and her name was on the box with here famous scribbly line! I wonder if they all did that. I found a note inside that has relieved my mind tremendously. I was secretly afraid she would give up under the pressure but she said "I will make you proud." So I know she is determined to make it. She too is a hot mess and look forward to the Navy straightening her out! Best of luck to you and your SR!

Awww...ts - I'm sorry to hear about your son coming back - is there any way he can get treatment/surgery and re-enlist when he is healed?  Tell him to keep his head up - he had the courage to go with his dream, and nobody can fault him for being released for medical reasons.  I'm sure you'll both support each other - he will find his way.

tsbabe143,

I am so sorry to hear about your son's medical separation! I can't imagine how heartbroken your son and your family must be. I know that is one of my greatest fears after reading about some others who have ended up on Ship 5.

My prayers are with you and your family. Please remember that we are still here for you, and that after the discs have healed, he may still be able to try again.

Give him all the love and support from us. And know that he has done you PROUD by making the effort and being dedicated enough to go.

Best wishes and thank you for your thoughts and prayers for our SRs.

L.

I am so sorry for your son. I know he is so disappointed. I will be praying for your son and for you. just remember that God is in control.

Well I was so proud of myself so far today for not shedding a single tear but well that was until I got on here and tried to catch up on some posts. SR got to GL on the 5th and Im waiting for my letter. Called recruiter but have to call back in a bit to see if she has his address yet. Hang in there ladies!
Sharon

I recieved my box yesterday. I searched everywhere but didn't find a note. I was a little upset because on his key chain for a digital photos and they sent it back home. I hope to recieve my letter soon.

WOW, You got a letter and a PIR date!!!  I just got a box of dirty clothes and tennis shoes....lol

What day did your SR leave?  Eager to know the PIR date so we can prepare travel arrangements, really hope it isn't Labor Day weekend....grrr as if airfare isn't expensive enough.

I'm really starting to get paranoid !!! UGH My son left 7/3 , received the infamous phone call around 7:10pm it was a total of 12 sec long.... I have yet to receive my "kid in a box" or the letter AND when I called his recruiters office ; Chief tells me his info wont be in the system for another week and if I don't receive anything to give him a call back next Tuesday !... Really ?! I'm not normally one of those panicky moms , I am just one of those "gotta be in the know" moms. And not really knowing what ship/div or PIR is is so frustrating beyond belief ! I guess my husband pin pointed my emotions the other day ... I have had total control and involvement in my sons entire life , up until July 2nd when he left for MEPS. It truly may be driving me nuts; but seeing everyone else is getting their stuff is so agonizingly painful I feel lost at sea ( pun intended ) I write him everyday and I cant wait to send him all the life changing events that have been occurring in our family and just the re-assurance that we are so proud of his decision and how excited we are for him... Though it is a one way conversation I feel better after I write them , but then I feel horrible that they are still sitting in envelopes with stamps and return address but no address to send them to ! Ive been through a year long deployment of my husband to Iraq 4 years ago, plus other mini deployments, I thought that was hard ! Holy moses this is so much harder , I truly know it gets easier atleast it did when my hubby left , but dang Ok im done venting

Jenn,

Vent away!! You've got the right for sure!! I feel you on that whole no info thing too!> I did get the box...yep, all of his stinky (wet in a bag...100 degrees for a week...ewwww) clothes and shoes...but no letter. I'm not sure I trust the info that his recruiter gave me, since he's new to the job, and doesn't return calls or messages.

It is unlike anything I've ever felt...and more painful than I imagined. We're all feeling it, some more and some less, but all to some degree.

Don't feel horrible...make that postman work for his money!!LOL...And imagine the joy that your SR will have reading and catching up on all the happenings.

We're out here for you...keep coming back and vent all you need to!!
L.

I received my letter! Took a few to open it through the tears. Just to see his handwriting was the best part. PIR 8/31/12..SHIP-12 DIV-271.

SO happy for you !!! .... fingers crossed mine will come tomorrow !!! Something ... ANYTHING LOL - Tell Our RED we love him and are thinking of him...

Yeah!!! I'm glad you've got some info and can now move on to the next part of the journey!!
