Has anyone whose son is in 268 received a letter?  Sounds like all the mail is still coming from 267.

Woohoo got our first letter today!!!  Sounds great. Said it was culture shock, but nothing out of the ordinary. Lol.  Seems in good spirits and I sure hope that lasts.  Page and half small navy stationary. Said he's done more showering, cleaning, laundry etc than he has done in his whole 18 years and that is when cuss like a sailor became very evident to him. Lol. Just wants news from home, anything. I've sent letters or cards every other day but not sure how much of those he's gotten as he didn't answer any questions we had asked.  Asked us to send his debit card, which we told him to take with him in the first place, but he knew better than his old parents and knew he wouldn't need it.  LOL

I am so happy for you! Hopefully we will hear from mine tomorrow.

So happy to hear that some of you have received letters. I haven't gotten one from Josh yet but am hopeful that he is receiving mine. Sad to hear that there has been some fighting amongst the division recruits. :(   The military has a way of punishing everyone in the division and not just the offenders. I am writing Josh another letter and asking him to be strong and to really try to work as a team. Also reminding him that each passing day is just one day closer to being finished. 6 more weeks to go! I can only imagine how tough it is for them and they are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Josh's Mom, where did you read about the recruits fighting amongst themselves?
Got my letter today he said he is doing well he is one of the eight of the section leader bit not sure how long he can hold onto it but that's the way it is and he said he EXHAUSTED!!! Wants me sans pictures news special sports news ....
Geraley T,

My SR told me there is conflict within the division. Apparently Dakota, and one other SR, are serving as the religious leaders and he said he's trying to help build unity within the group. He said there are several kids who are out for themselves and not being part of the team.

Amy
That is awesome!! I'm so glad that they are sharing the Word of God!!
Is Dakota 267 or 268?
I got a phone call from my SR today. He needed more info for his clearance so he was allowed to call. He said they received uniforms and new boots which are giving everyone blisters. The food is good but he's lost 15 lbs thus far. They have started receiving mail. He got 10 of my letters in one day! He said Josh (Josh's Mom-Div 267) is the mail guy and his "best bud". He is sharing Bible verses with the recruits each night and talking with those having a tough time. They have completed a few swimming qualifications. They are getting wisdom teeth removed this week and will get two days in their bunks afterwards. (He's looking forward to that!) They are working on earning flags. He sounded better today than I've heard him thus far. He told me how much he loves me and he's learning to not take anything for granted. He sounded so mature. He didn't know when he would be able to call again. He said they receive phone time as a reward so they might get to call often or not at all.

I love that they are best buddies... that is awesome. :)

Gosh, I hadn't even thought about them having to have their wisdom teeth removed but I do recall hearing about that a long time ago. Poor kids. :(

I got a letter today!! I'm so so excited. He sounds like he is adjusting well!! Said the food isn't bad, but definitely not homemade. Lol said he got a shot in the butt 3 days ago and it still hurts. They have been doing a lot of IT (don't know what that is) because do guys getting in trouble in the division :( he said that he realizes how everything he had before was such a luxury. all the years of me trying to teach him that and it only takes the navy 10 days. Lol
He has made a few friends, but not much time to talk.
I'm so relieved to hear that he is doing well!! I hope you all hear from your SR's soon and they are doing well also!

Got two letters from my son today! Very happy!
